Alcoa is seeking a dynamic and strategic Commercial Transportation Manager based in Rotterdam.
Reporting directly to the EMEA Transportation and Logistics Manager, this role is accountable for effectively coordinating commercial transportation activities related to supplier sourcing as well as defining and implementing strategies for several transportation modes (road, barge, rail, container, port operations and warehousing).

Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement the Transportation category strategies, utilizing Strategic Sourcing processes, tools and policies.
  • Perform supplier market/category/supply risk analysis and develop Total Cost Ownership (TCO) models to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Negotiate contracts ensuring the most beneficial commercial agreements with suppliers in line with the strategy.  
  • Develop competitive bidding processes (E-auctions, Gain events…) as well as supporting ad-hoc negotiations.
  • Develop long-term contract governance to increase productivity, reduce cost and upgrade IT communication.
  • Manage the relationship with various stakeholders to integrate category plans and outcomes in local budgets and price planning.
  • Improve customer value through faster response to key customers’ changing logistics needs.
  • Provide support to Global Transportation projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or Transportation and Logistics Management/ Supply Chain (or regional equivalent),
  • Equivalent industry experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ Supply Chain experience or 5 years in a relevant industry.

Requirements:

  • Transportation market and Commercial background.
  • Broad transportation, logistic and inventory control knowledge.
  • Demonstrated successful use of Project Management skills.
  • Previous managerial experience.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Proven experience in negotiations.
  • Strategies development experience.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulatory requirements and pricing strategies.
  • Occasional Travel to suppliers and locations will be required.
  • Fluency in English.

Skills:

  • Microsoft Suite and Power BI knowledge, SAP/Finance system knowledge.
  • An outgoing personality with the ability to cultivate relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Public Speaking/ Presentation creation for Senior management.
  • Rich knowledge and experience of chartering would be an asset.
  • Dutch/Spanish language would be an asset.
