ROLE SUMMARY

The Commercial Portfolio Senior Manager is a unique and critical role within the Pfizer UK Commercial organisation.  The colleague in role is responsible for developing the strategic plan and leading the operational execution which supports sustainable access for patients across the UK, unlocks key customer and channel opportunities in order to deliver the portfolio financial goals.

As a subject matter expert (SME), the colleague in this role is responsible for:

  • Lead a diverse portfolio of c.35 critical, branded and generic brands generating c.£45M in annual revenue.
  • Support the development and delivery of the Commercial Portfolio operating plan; driving sustainable access to achieve revenue and GM margin commitments.
  • Build robust implementation plans supported by regular reviews and KPI’s.
  • Collaborate across critical customer groups, channels and strategic organizations; developing a deep understanding of the external market and enabling win-win partnerships opportunities.
  • Maximize capital allocation decisions to achieve portfolio growth and profitability, in line with agreed ROI objectives.
  • Collaborate across the organisation (Finance, Insights, Medical and Legal) to develop and implement effective pricing strategies.
  • Partner with GSC to ensure supply resilience, optimise market opportunities and achieve effective portfolio management.
  • Support critical projects across Commercial Portfolio & Operations Team.

This role is pivotal to ensuring the sustainability of medicines post-patent, providing specialist support and innovative commercialization options that secure long-term value for patients and the business.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Portfolio Management

  • Develop and execute best-in-class data & insights driven strategies and tactical plans to achieve UK revenue targets for the Commercial medicine portfolio.
  • Maintain accurate forecasts, Product and Financial, in line with patient and customer demand.
  • Leading out of stock mitigation efforts through trusted partnerships, coordinating with key stakeholders in PGS, Commercial, Regulatory, Quality and Medical functions, as necessary.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver insight-driven strategies that maximize revenue and margin across the portfolio.
  • Demonstrate market expertise by understanding the competitive landscape, customer needs, and environmental factors to inform country-level planning, forecasting, and operational excellence.
  • Leverage OnePfizer resources to enhance the customer journey and deliver value.
  • Lead the development and flawless implementation of operational plans, ensuring strong execution of commercial strategies and key programs to deliver optimal revenue and margin.

Driving Innovation

  • Challenge conventional approaches and take calculated risks to identify and experiment with innovative solutions that address business challenges and customer needs.
  • Rapidly share best practices and scale proven capabilities to enhance reach and engagement.
  • Develop brand plans that deliver high value while maintaining cost efficiency.

Team Leadership

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with key internal stakeholders, including Commercial, Medical, Demand Management, Finance, Legal, Regulatory, and Global teams.
  • Champion engagement across the supply chain to ensure strong connections with customers and stakeholders.

Financial Planning

  • Oversee budget planning, spend, and control for assigned areas, providing regular forecast updates to support financial planning.
  • Manage and prioritize resources in alignment with UK strategy and customer-facing functions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of operational plans, long-range forecasts, and latest estimates, utilizing UK financial systems and processes.

Business Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of portfolio plans for Established Brands, targeting annual revenue of approximately £45 million.
  • Using all available data to develop and implement customer engagement plans for designated channels, including Retail, NHS Hospital, or Private Hospital.
  • Create marketing plans and contract and tender strategies to strengthen business performance, leveraging up-to-date market intelligence.
  • Influence and collaborate across Pfizer stakeholders to achieve budget targets and identify growth opportunities.
  • Manage internal processes such as demand planning, regulatory compliance, government reporting, and champion new concepts to improve work efficiency.
  • Support the implementation of customer programs and MCC campaigns, ensuring full compliance.
  • Gather, analyze and apply customer insights to drive patient-centricity, enhance reputation, and inform strategic decisions.

Stakeholder engagement

  • Cultivate relationships with key Global and International Commercial Office colleagues to ensure alignment and effective collaboration on portfolio objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to develop and implement the UK Multisource strategy, leveraging global insights for local impact.
  • Build and expand a network of key customer contacts and opinion leaders to facilitate information flow, identify commercial opportunities, and influence perceptions of Pfizer and the Commercial Portfolio.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key external groups, including national procurement, government bodies (e.g., MPSC/DHSC), retail and private hospital groups, and relevant patient organizations, in line with agreed engagement plans to enhance Pfizer’s reputation and market presence.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in science, life sciences, or business; graduate studies in management is an asset.
  • Proven high performance and outstanding results in brand/commercial marketing; managing a commercial portfolio with in depth experience of supply and pricing strategies an advantage.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, delivering results in complex matrix environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of the UK pharmaceutical industry and healthcare environment.
  • Strategic thinking: creative, effective in identifying major challenges, and balancing short- and long-term goals.
  • Excellent organisational skills; flexible, able to prioritize multiple demands and perform under tight timelines with agility.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; able to convey complex concepts to demanding audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority, drive innovation, and foster continuous improvement.
