The Global Commercial Operations function has a mission to "Protect and profitably grow the SBU through winning proposals and commercial process excellence".
As SBU Global Commercial Operations Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing all Commercial Operations activities. You will be leading the Regional Commercial Operations teams and working closely with the SBU Sales Leader(s) and the SBU Management team. The Commercial Operations Leader will co-ordinate all bidding & risk related activities for the SBU to ensure they are completed on time and to the highest service quality standards.
Strategic Leadership:
- Leading, developing & providing tactical guidance to a team of Commercial Operations Leaders & Specialists located around the world within the applicable PPS regions.
- Developing extensive working partnerships within the SBU and Industrial Products across functions (e.g. Sales, Legal, Finance, Engineering, etc.) to enable effective communications, on-time responses, and improved information flow to help shape winning and profitable strategies and bids.
Operational
- Support achievement of SBU metrics related to orders, revenue and margin.
- Managing all aspects of bid preparation efforts in accordance with the PPS business rules & “Inquiry to Order (ITO)” processes and liaise with regional and global leadership on bid related matters.
- Working closely with the SBU management and regional teams on the SBU bidding strategy, risk management and contract negotiations. Help develop long term strategies to increase “Speed to yes” and improve win rates. Maintain commercial team focus on commercial rhythms and performance. Use leading and lagging analytics to support insight into commercial productivity and effectiveness and propose areas of improvement to drive profitable growth.
Process
- Overseeing and managing all aspects of commercial risk for the SBU – enforce deal and risk reviews and empower regions for successful contract negotiations. Ensure Commercial Operations Teams are trained and competent in all SBU & relevant IET ITO processes, procedures, and tools.
- Leading continuous improvement and change management processes to challenge the current commercial systems/processes to reduce cycle time, improve service quality and reduce costs. Drive commercial team accountability to agreed and implemented changes.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent – preferably in Science/Engineering or Commercial discipline.
- Have a minimum of 8 years commercial experience in managing commercial teams, analyzing, translating & completing complex bids/proposals in Oil & Gas industry – specifically PPS related services
- Demonstrate effective communication, interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to influence others and lead local and remote teams.
- Be highly motivated and energetic leader with strong organizational skills.
- Be financially & commercially astute – a good understanding of contracts (including terms e.g. commercial trades, logistics, and pricing), business financials and reporting.
- Experience in customer facing environment
- Be a natural, proactive communicator with proven negotiation skills.
- Be a motivated self-starter, proactively taking the initiative to lead and solve problems through good analytical skills.
- Be results orientated, self-driven individual with passion, enthusiasm and energy and ability to influence with and without authority in a multi-disciplinary, matrixed environment.
- Show the ability to be a team player and work collaboratively.
