Reporting to the Senior Accountant, an opportunity exists for a proactive and organised Commercial Officer to join the Oaky Creek Coal Commercial team. As a member of the Commercial team, you will be crucial to Oaky Creek Coal’s operational success, financial performance and corporate governance.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Recording financial transactions accurately and in accordance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Producing daily management cost reports to provide management with actionable insights for monitoring expenses and controlling costs.
- Managing banking transactions, including payments, deposits and transfers, and reconciling balances to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Supporting commercial functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions.
- Preparation of statutory, insurance, tax and other regulatory financial returns as required.
- Supporting month-end reporting, including journal entries, reconciliations and financial summaries.
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, including developing, monitoring and updating budgets and forecasts on a regular basis.
- Providing financial information and collaborative support to the Finance team, Operations, and other stakeholders.
About you:

- 3+ years’ experience in a similar Commercial Officer role;
- Excellent attention to detail, be responsive, enthusiastic, innovative and a self-motivated person;
- A can-do attitude and desire to work with a Mining Team in a dynamic environment;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to meet monthly deadlines;
- Previous experience with SAP system and intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills;
- Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping, Diploma of Accounting or Bachelors Degree in Commerce, or related area, either completed or in progress, would be viewed favourably.
