The Team:

Based in Calgary, the team is responsible for commercial activities across the Canadian market, with particular emphasis on building strong relationships through in-person client visits. You will work closely with existing clients while prioritizing strategic growth and fostering partnerships within the region.   • You will have the opportunity to collaborate face-to-face with a diverse array of professionals across the sector, including energy and commodity trading houses, brokerages, industrials, automotive companies, producers, governments, utilities, and FMCG organizations.

  • Regular in-person meetings with clients and stakeholders will be central to your approach, enabling you to build rapport and deepen engagement.

  • You’ll also interact with various departments within our client base, such as Trading, Risk, Finance, Strategy, Procurement, Sales, and ESG teams, ensuring that personal connections are at the heart of every interaction.

  • You will be part of an international, fast-paced organization where global developments directly influence the solutions we provide to our Canadian clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage existing client relationships

  • Prioritize regular face-to-face visits

  • Focus on retaining and growing client portfolios in Calgary and across Canada.

  • Develop and nurture deep and strong relationships with client organizations, addressing their needs, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

  • Develop an exceptional understanding of, and stay current on, the S&P Global Commodity Insights products and functionality and their application to specific clients/job functions

  • Produce accurate sales forecasting and keep an up-to-date pipeline, contacts and meeting notes in SalesForce CRM system

  • Contribute to the business strategy through a deep understanding of industry requirements, market trends and client requirements

  • Maintain a high level of relevant domain knowledge in order to have meaningful conversations with clients and prospects

  • Work within a sales team collaborating with sales specialists and relationship specialists to proactively address customer requirements

What We’re Looking For:

  • University degree with at least 3+ years experience in business development or sales roles managing complex accounts in an international environment

  • Consultative sales and negotiation skills experience, possess high integrity and proficiency to all phases of selling cycle from need creation, proposal preparation, negotiation and deal closure

  • Excellent communication and presentation (verbal and written) skills, being able to build valuable and impactful business relationships internally and externally

  • Passion and dedication for the commodities and energy world. Staying on top of global and regional macro and micro environmental trends

  • Strong planning and organization skills, able to prioritize

  • Travel required
