Job Summary
You will be providing high quality supplier financial risk analysis and making recommendations as part of supplier selection and ongoing commercial agreement management. You will provide real time support and guidance, act as a trusted adviser and contribute to the CCS customer value proposition. You will be required to manage multiple stakeholders and prioritise a varied workload whilst maintaining a focus on detail and accuracy.
The role will form part of a newly established sub-team to deliver reactive financial risk assurance. You will help shape the service offering going forward and implement the new service line as well as supporting the organisation with adhoc financial risk queries.
Directorate Overview
As a directorate, Finance, Planning and Performance (FPP) are responsible for the planning, reporting and financial wellbeing of CCS. This includes:
budgets and financial reporting
strategy and business planning
supplier and project assurance
performance reporting
risk management
The Finance team develop and manage all financial reporting. We work closely with different departments to develop budgets, projections and business plans related to money and finances.
The Planning Performance and Risk team develops our business plan, tracks its implementation, measures business success and holds the business to account. The team is responsible for increasing the management capability of corporate risk through review and assurance.
Team Summary
This fantastic and rare opportunity sits in the Commercial Finance Team which supports CCS to manage financial risk for over 10,000 suppliers. Our team of 8 finance professionals really makes a difference working with our commercial colleagues to manage commercial agreements while ensuring compliance with financial stability policy and delivering value for our customers through performing financial risk assurance activities.
Key Accountabilities:
Liaising with external suppliers and colleagues to process financial risk
Creating risk evaluation reports by reviewing financial information, applying financial ratios and providing concise conclusions
Use financial data to form clearly communicated recommendations and support Commercial teams in contractual risk management
Act as a trusted partner to commercial teams as they manage supplier on commercial agreements
Input to the commercial finance systems and reporting, enabling timely, high quality reports to Procurement Operations and Category teams
Identify and contribute to initiatives to develop the commercial Finance service offering
Communicate financial reports, processes and financial risk guidance in a simple, easy to understand manner
Essential Criteria (to be assessed at application stage):
Ability to deliver to strict deadlines and to work under pressure
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Experience of interpreting financial information to identify financial risk
Experience of working with multiple stakeholders with varying levels of financial knowledge
Professional accounting qualification (minimum level of Part Qualified - ICAEW or equivalent)
Desirable Criteria:
Working knowledge of Government Playbooks and the Economic and Financial Stability policy

CCS is a flexible business with a smarter working model where our colleagues benefit from a mix of home and office working. Successful candidates are expected to work from one of the office locations listed. Our current office attendance approach requires a minimum of 26 days per quarter (approx 2 days per week, which may be subject to change) in CCS office locations or off site meetings with suppliers, customers, partners, networking / industry events. This is pro rata for those who work part time. Selection Process
Candidates who are successful at sift will be contacted as soon as possible following the closing date and advised of the interview process in more detail. The sift will commence on WC 1st December and interviews will be held WC 15th December either at one of our offices or via video with interview times and dates to be confirmed. (Subject to change)
