What will this role achieve? 

 

The role partners with the Marketing team, working to manage, analyse and improve the effectiveness of our spend. This role plays a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, insightful analysis and strong financial control, to support effective and agile decision making whilst optimising our return on investment. 

The role will be responsible for support the investment strategy for the UK&I region, both for the next year and the longer term. The individual will need to be able to build strong relationships across the marketing function and be the champion for Direct Marketing Spend. 

 

What will be your key results?  

 

Investment Understanding & Communication 

  • Monthly spend management, ensuring clear understanding of performance vs budget, last year and forecast. 

  • Leading the reporting cadence, to keep key stakeholders informed on latest spend profile, including CMO, CFO & Marketing Leadership team. 

  • Lead agility of in year investment allocation alongside Commercial Finance Director 

 

Forward Looking Value Add 

  • Deliver on-going tracking of Campaign spend and maintain awareness of campaign progress including expense recognition practices 

  • Lead the DM meeting / engagement process, ensuring progress and review meetings are scheduled, agenda issued and actions recorded 

  • Ensuring a clear link between business objectives and the marketing spend being deployed 

 

Forecasting 

  • Lead the 3 Year Plan, AOP and forecast for Direct Marketing, ensuring that complete awareness is achieved at UK Exec level throughout the allocation and planning processes 

  • Manage the LE process for DM, including 

  • Understanding any forecast over / underspends 

  • Review GRIR and committed spend to achieve full risks and opps understanding 

Governance & Compliance 

  • Be the governance champion, to ensure all the correct processes and ways of working are adhered to, to ensure compliance with internal controls. 

  • Identifying gaps in our current governance, creating mitigation plans through process improvement. 

  • Ensuring accurate GR, settling any accruals / prepayments needed 

  • Lead financial compliance including working with auditors at Year End 

Collaboration & Coaching 

  • Lead DM training of Brand Managers and Shopper Managers – including DM spend categories, accruals process, completion of trackers 

  • Business partnering with the marketing team, to ensure we are maximising not only our return on investment, but also maximise our spend that reaches the consumer 

 

Bring your experience!

  • A strong background in commercial finance or accounting 

  • Fully qualified ACCA / ACA / CIMA qualification  

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel  

  • Strong interpersonal skills 

  • Able to influence and challenge
