Step into a vital role at Sedgwick as a Commercial Desktop Investigator, delivering tailored fraud prevention across diverse commercial claims.

The role of a Commercial Desktop Investigator within Sedgwick’s Commercial Investigations team offers a dynamic and intellectually stimulating opportunity to be at the forefront of counter-fraud efforts. This team plays a vital role in delivering tailored, cost-effective fraud prevention strategies to a diverse range of internal and external clients. The work is varied and engaging, involving telephone and video interviews, evidence gathering, and liaising with policyholders, contractors, suppliers, and external agencies such as the police. You’ll be expected to plan and conduct investigations, produce well-structured statements, and prepare detailed reports with clear recommendations for insurers. The role also includes issuing outcome letters, negotiating settlements, and maintaining high standards of customer service while adhering to strict service level agreements.

The skills you will have when you apply:

  • Insurance Knowledge: Strong understanding of commercial and property claims, including business interruption and the principle of indemnity.
  • Fraud Detection: Experience using data and technology to identify and report fraudulent activity to relevant bodies.
  • Legal Awareness: Familiarity with current case law, statutes, and legal liabilities relevant to insurance investigations.
  • Investigative Skills: Ability to identify, secure, and preserve evidence through interviews and desktop enquiries.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of FCA guidelines, GDPR, and Sedgwick’s complaint procedures.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to show empathy and professionalism.
  • Negotiation Ability: Skilled in negotiating settlements and challenging fraudulent claims effectively.
  • Planning & Organisation: Capable of managing multiple investigations, prioritising tasks, and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Relationship Building: Able to develop strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and third-party contacts.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to be flexible and responsive during surge periods or changing workloads.
  • Report Writing: Competent in preparing clear, concise reports with firm recommendations for insurers.
  • Technical Proficiency: Confident use of MS Word, Excel, and other IT systems to manage caseloads and document findings.
  • Customer Service: Commitment to delivering high-quality service and resolving complaints within regulatory standards.
