Commercial Contracts Attorney

Join Our Team as a Commercial Contracts Lawyer at Axiom

Location: Philadelphia, PA

We are seeking a versatile Commercial Contracts Lawyer to support our client, a major insurance company, across a broad range of commercial contracting and cross-functional legal matters. In this role, you will act as a flexible, generalist resource, providing practical legal support on vendor, SaaS, and general commercial agreements, while assisting with real estate and other business-facing needs. This position is designed to address a current team bandwidth gap, with a focus on managing overflow work, supporting project-based initiatives, and collaborating across multiple stakeholders and business units. This is an existing vacancy created following a recent team departure.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate third-party agreements, including vendor agreements, IT/SaaS agreements, service provider agreements, and general commercial contracts
  • Handle medium-complexity commercial agreements and corporate transactions–adjacent work without being limited to a narrow specialty
  • Provide real estate legal support, including lease amendments, renewals, refurbishment-related agreements, and coordination with outside counsel on larger matters
  • Support multiple internal groups, including HR, IT, Claims & Service Providers, and Real Estate, as a central legal resource
  • Step into project-based and overflow work, including contract management system organization, folder structuring, document organization, and process cleanup/scalability support

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience in commercial contracts
  • Experience working across multiple stakeholders and business functions, including IT, HR, Claims, and Real Estate
  • Strong communication, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Juris Doctor degree or equivalent and licensed to practice law in an applicable jurisdiction

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience supporting technology-related agreements, including software licensing, SaaS, outsourcing, and digital engagements
  • Strong knowledge of commercial contracting practices, with familiarity supporting real estate agreements such as leases, amendments, and renewals
  • Excellent negotiation skills across a range of third-party agreements, including vendor, technology, and service provider contracts
  • Familiarity with data security practices and privacy laws and regulations

Compensation:

The estimated total compensation for full-time Axiom attorney roles is $120,000-160,000 per year. Compensation decisions are based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs.  Employees may be eligible for additional benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance; paid holidays and PTO; flexible work arrangements; and professional development opportunities and tools.
