Commercial Business Analyst

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Analytics team at Guy Carpenter. This role will be based in London office. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
This role is responsible for supporting client advisory by preparing and structuring Excess of Loss property retro layers, calculating pricing metrics, and presenting data insights to brokers and clients. It involves managing the renewal cycle for major client accounts, including handling large retrocession accounts and participating in RFP presentations and strategy sessions. The role also focuses on developing data tools and analytical solutions using Excel, Python, SQL, and Power BI, collaborating with data engineering teams to enhance reporting capabilities.
We will rely on you for:
Client Advisory Support:
Prepare and structure Excess of Loss property retro layers using in-house systems.
Calculate pricing metrics and produce analytical outputs for renewals.
Present data insights to brokers and clients in meetings.
Renewal Cycle Management:
Support 8–9 major client accounts during peak periods (e.g., 1/1 renewals).
Work on large retrocession accounts valued between $1 million and $5 million.
Participate in RFP presentations and client strategy sessions.
Data & Tool Development:
Design and build self-service analytical tools for benchmarking and insights.
Utilize Excel, Python, SQL, and Power BI to create dashboards and reporting solutions.
Collaborate with data engineering colleagues to deliver robust solutions.
Market Reporting:
Coordinate production of biannual market reports, ensuring data accuracy and validation.
Manage input from junior team members and oversee quality control.
What you need to have:
Strong analytical and programming skills (Python, SQL, Power BI).
Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
Excellent communication skills for client-facing presentations.
Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable in an unstructured environment.
Background in Mathematics, Computer Science, or similar quantitative discipline.
Insurance/reinsurance experience is beneficial but not essential.
