Position Summary:
The Product Controller is responsible for managerial accounting and reporting for Commercial and Corporate Banking businesses which include but are not limited to Lending, Deposits, Securitization and Trade Finance products. Product Control are responsible for the monitoring of transactions, P&L, and act as a primary control function ensuring that daily, monthly, and yearly reporting agrees to the general ledger and by legal line item. The controller is also expected to resolve variances between expected Business revenues and actual revenues. Additionally, the controller will be responsible for managerial profit-sharing adjustments and reporting to other branches and Head office. The controller will also be involved in various projects and enhancements for the Product Control team.
Essential Job Duties:
Daily, monthly and quarterly P&L production and analysis
Daily interaction with Front office
Liaison with various areas within the firm (e.g. Operations, Technology, FP&A, Front office)
Managerial reporting close at month-end including profit-sharing with other branches which requires liaising with other branches and Head office.
Month-end General Ledger closes in conjunction with the accounting team
Balance sheet substantiation
Assess new trades for appropriate valuation, accounting treatment, and disclosure in the financial statements. Providing analysis and information in response to ad hoc requests from various areas throughout the firm
Process reengineering to improve efficiencies
Participation in Finance initiatives/Projects
Qualifications:
4+ years of product control experience, particularly in Loan products
Accounting or Finance degree required
CPA or CFA preferred, but not required
High attention to detail
Strong ability to multitask efficiently and be extremely organized
Fast learner and team player
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Highly proficient in Excel
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; the ability to clearly articulate idea
The expected base salary ranges from $91,000 - $140,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, including Medical, Dental and 401K plans, successful candidates are also eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
