THE ROLE
The Commercial Analyst role sits within the Commercial team at WiseEnergy. This is a broad commercial position focused on managing revenues, regulatory matters, and contractual issues for a portfolio of assets in the United States. The ideal candidate will have a strong commercial, and contractual background, with in-depth knowledge of revenue management within the renewables sector.
While the primary focus is on managing assets in the US market, the role will also support WiseEnergy’s broader portfolio of assets in other countries. This is a permanent, full-time position reporting to the Commercial Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing the monthly revenue accruals process and investigating discrepancies, where relevant. For this it is important to understand the basics of energy generation in a solar asset.
- In coordination with the Finance team, preparation of project revenue budgets and forecasts as well as support the development of asset operating budgets.
- Managing the regulatory interface and compliance requirements alongside our advisors, e.g. data submissions for project companies under management.
- Responsible for budget follow-up and management, coordinating with the company's finance team the validation of costs and revenues.
- Maintaining solar plant compliance with contractual requirements including drafting and issuing formal notices/communications, and if required, investigating non-compliance and resolution.
- Work closely with the technical team to understand and strategically resolve technical issues.
- Managing project company contract renewals and tendering.
- Managing insurance renewals and claims.
- Managing property agreements, e.g. land leases, and relationships with landowners.
- Supporting Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) compliance and delivery.
- Supporting the company’s in-house ‘onboarding’ process for new sites with a specific focus on understanding contracts and working internally with WiseEnergy’s Finance and Technical teams to: ensure a seamless transition into WiseEnergy; extraction of relevant information into the company’s bespoke contract management software; supporting the creation of respective Onboarding Report and Operating Plans; and smooth management throughout the life of each respective agreement.
- Updating and continued development of the company’s in-house Asset Management Platform (AMP) software as required, working with Commercial teams in London, Milan and Hyderabad as necessary and with the in-house Technology team.
- Supporting annual Asset Operating Plans with relevant contract management information and reviews.
- Reporting to the client and internally and externally as required.
- Approving contractual invoices.
- Ad hoc commercial projects.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Time management & prioritization skills - things can get a little hectic, so the ability to effectively manage yourself and your workload is critical.
- Excellent communication skills (in English or/and other European languages) - you must be able to organize your thoughts in a way that others find clear and compelling. You will be expected to together well-written, grammatically correct emails and other communications. When communicating verbally – whether over the phone, on video calls, in person or in meetings – you will need to be articulate, warm and engaging.
- Flexibility - being an effective team player means being flexible in your approach and open to getting involved with new things, even if they are not spelled out in your job description.
- Intellectual Curiosity – Technical Management is a broad and nuanced field and we are looking for someone who is truly interested in our profession and has the intellectual curiosity to delve deep into topics and bring fresh ideas into the team.
- IT Literacy - you need to be comfortable with IT systems and working with data (you should have at least intermediate-level excel).
- Delivery focus – it may sound obvious, but the ability to proactively churn through work at pace and deliver quality outputs really matters!
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2-3 years in a similar level role, with a strong background in revenue management and experience with US operations
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, with experience in revenue management
- Proven understanding of solar energy systems and its main components
- Regulatory, property and contract knowledge
- Advanced standard MS Office suite, notably Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
- Use of Power BI and Power Apps would be considered advantageous
