Job Description

What is the opportunity?

You will be responsible for the daily margining activities in support of RBCs requirements at their Centrally Cleared Counterparties (CCPs) and OTC derivative counterparties.

Supporting the processing of daily margin call obligations for trades both with CCP and OTC counterparties. This function sits within the wider collateral management team within the COO Group - Funding Liquidity & Payments team (FL&P) team at RBC.

What will you do?

  • You will manage margin settlement across our CCP and OTC counterparty relationships. This includes processing daily margin calls with all CCPs where RBC maintains direct clearing relationships and agreeing margin requirements with OTC counterparties daily. You will ensure timely settlement of these margin obligations whilst maintaining rigorous control standards throughout the trading day, with clear escalation protocols in place for any exceptions or discrepancies.
  • You will also own the monthly billing cycle for CCP margining, ensuring that all fees and interest are calculated accurately and processed in accordance with our contractual obligations and deadlines.
  • Throughout these activities, you will perform control checks at key points in the settlement workflow and maintain disciplined escalation discipline to flag any operational risks or delays that could impact our margin funding or regulatory reporting obligations.
  • To act as a central point of contact for all COO Group - FL&P Teams.
  • To navigate RBC’s structure quickly and efficiently to expedite any queries/asks through to resolution.
  • Keep up-to date with both internal and external initiatives that have a direct impact on the CCP margin.
  • Collaborating with line manager on all CCP technology requests (tactical and strategic), liaising with solutions, change and technology teams as required.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • A good understanding of the daily margin lifecycle and requirements of both the main clearing houses and OTC Bilateral agreements. Covering both the Initial margin and Variation margin obligations.
  • A working knowledge of some of the vendor systems/solutions such as Murex, Apex, TriOptima, Acadia, LCH Portal.
  • An overall knowledge of the main CCPs (i.e., LCH, Eurex, CME, ICE Clear) and FMI systems.
  • A broad knowledge of one or more regulatory regimes, including CASS, Transaction Reporting, MiFID II, EMIR.

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge of Repo/Securities Lending product.
  • Have good awareness of the impact that the cleared margin activity has on other areas of the Operational Services business.
  • Having prior experience with LCH SwapAgent/Swapclear and understanding the workflow from a margining perspective.
  • Recognized industry qualifications: CISI, Eurex Clearing Qualified Clearing Staff (QBO)
  • Experience using command-line or prompt based interfaces with AI language models.
  • IFIC/CSC completion certificate.
