As an AI Engineering Co-op Student, you will work closely with our Data Science team to develop and implement artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) models that drive innovation and efficiency within the company. You will leverage your knowledge of Python, SQL, Databricks, Spark, and Azure to contribute to various AI projects, ensuring they align with Home Trust Company business objectives and technology standards.
Key Responsibilities (minimum weighting = 10%)
- Assist in the design and development of AI/ML models using Python, ensuring code quality and maintainability.
- Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) tasks using SQL and Python to prepare datasets for analysis.
- Utilize Databricks for data exploration, visualization, and model development.
- Contribute to development of AI applications (familiarity with NLP, LLMs and prompt engineering is a plus)
- Work within the Azure cloud environment, ensuring ML and AI models meet performance, privacy, compliance and scalability requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
- Leverage data to create data driven insights
- Write technical documentation and stakeholder facing presentations
- Participate in the full AI/ML development cycle, from concept and design to testing and deployment, under the guidance of the data science team.
- Document AI processes and models, contributing to the knowledge base and ensuring best practices are followed.
- Engage in continuous learning to stay up-to-date with the latest AI/ML trends and technologies.
- Participate in meetings with the team, attend relevant events, training, etc.
Education Requirement:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field with a focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Years of Experience:
- Previous cooperative experience considered an asset
Additional Qualifications, Certifications, Skills:
- Proficiency in Python programming for AI/ML applications.
- Experience with SQL and database management.
- Familiarity with Databricks is plus.
- Exposure to cloud computing platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
