The Cluster CFO oversees controlling, finance business partnering, purchasing & administration and meets regularly with team members to keep informed and to offer direction. The CCFO reports directly to the Area Finance Director (AFD).

The above translates into the key areas of responsibility:

The CCFO oversees long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with strategy. The CCFO steers the Country Business Partners in the Cluster to:

  • Lead financial planning cycles (RBU, LTP, MTP, TA Strategy, & LBE) processes including: global market/regional guidance coordination, performance targets and incentives, ROI analysis, presentation development & delivery to senior stakeholders, and short and long-term financial strategy.

  • Develop and implement appropriate systems for business plan preparation and documentation, sales, cost and capital expenditure budgeting, cost control and follow up/deviation analysis and explanation.

  • Partner with Country President and Senior Leadership Team to support strategic implementation and ensure effective financial decision making, particular around P&L management, investments, and resource allocation and optimisation.

  • Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.

  • Leadership of financial reporting including; development, consolidation, and delivery of monthly reporting. Provide financial insight and foresight to support the delivery of our strategic and commercial goals.

  • Review reports to analyse projections of sales and profit against actual figures, budgeted expenses against final totals, and suggests methods of improvements as appropriate.

  • Own capital expenditure budgets, working capital management and cash flow optimization.

  • Drive a robust cash flow management framework by optimizing cash indicators such as CTT, AR improvement and taking appropriate steps to ensure markets will deliver against targets.

The CCFO oversees the management and coordination of all fiscal and statutory reporting activities ensuring for the correct and timely internal and external reporting for Tax, Balance Sheet and P&L.

  • Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities ensuring for the correct and timely internal and external reporting for Tax, Balance Sheet and P&L.

  • Sign off, after review with global tax, on all locally prepared tax filings and build the tax, statutory risk matrix (Heat map) for the Cluster Countries and ensures remediation of the open items in a prioritized form.

  • Responsible for the successful performance against internal/external audits (no material findings).

  • Establish and maintain appropriate internal control processes in the frame of the company’s Financial Control Framework.

  • Ensure that a culture of ethics and integrity is embedded in all business practices. Complies with the Code of Ethics, all relevant supporting policies, standards, and procedures. 

  • Implement and maintain appropriate business risk management strategies in accordance with AstraZeneca’s policies and oversee legal compliance requirements of AstraZeneca.

  • Ensure compliance with treasury policies (e.g., single bank account use etc).

  • Drive teams to focus decision support activities, initiate changes to improve working practices and processes in Finance and communicate these among the Finance Networks.

The CCFO is responsible for the optimal performance of the finance team in his/her cluster, including:

  • Ensure lean and effective operations of the activities under his/her control. Drive an agenda of continuous improvement and simplification for the Finance function, work in partnership with GFS, aligned with the global finance transformation agenda.

  • Ensure the finance function delivers value added insights to key stakeholders in the Cluster and Area.

  • Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.

  • Coach and develop a team of finance professionals to excellent performance, creating a supportive work environment where everyone has the opportunity to fulfil their potential.

  • Member of the Country Leadership Team and Asia Area Finance Leadership Team and lead or contribute to above market initiatives as they arise.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Degree in accounting or finance

  • Financial qualification or equivalent through experience

  • Demonstrated excellence in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, control, tax and reporting

  • Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model

  • Ability to prioritize and summarize complex issues and ensure the material items (‘heat mapping’) are solved for with priority

  • Ability to drive a team towards increased performance and delivery

  • Strong stakeholder management in a matrix organization (GFS, Country leaders, Country CBPs)

Desired

  • Experience of working in a global organization, preferably within the pharmaceuticals industry

  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team and liaising with senior leaders

  • Use of/exposure to general office and financial systems, e.g. SAP, Business Intelligence software

  • Fluent in relevant local languages
