Martin North’s 2nd Floor consists of an 18-bed Medical/Surgical & Telemetry Unit as well as a 22-bed Clinical Decision Unit. These units provide care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses who may require telemetry monitoring. As a Clinical Technician on this team, you will support your fellow caregivers and medical staff by providing patients with top-quality care. Under the supervision of an RN, you will utilize your technical and applicable skills to enhance the patient experience and create a welcoming, healing environment. A caregiver in this position works days from 6:00AM – 6:30PM. 

 
A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to RN, these include but are not limited to vital signs, weights, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, application of external monitoring devises, and further technical skills of phlebotomy, clean dressing changes, 12-lead ECGs and insertion of urinary Foley Catheters. 

  • Assist with keeping patient's' rooms clean & orderly. 

  • Maintain personal growth and development through the ongoing process of formal and informal education. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

  • High School Diploma or GED  

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon or within new hire period  

  • Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required prior to hire 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student who has completed at least one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) OR additional education/training 

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
