JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Summary:
The Clinical Provider Supervisor supervises Clinical Providers and provide therapy for assigned clients.
Essential Job Functions:
• Provide supervision to the Clinical Providers assigned to you and hold regularly scheduled individual supervisory sessions and team meetings with supervisees.
• Assist supervisees in the effective management of their time, as dictated by DMH standards and departmental needs.
• Provide individual, group, family and/or other practical counseling utilizing his/her experience and ability to meet the needs of the client and the goals of treatment, and engages in any other activities that meet those needs and goals. The size of the caseload will be determined by Supervisory staff.
• Within limits of experience, educational background, and the system’s time commitments, presents in public forums educational material to promote community understanding of mental health and to enhance community response to mental health problems.
• According to the system’s guidelines, participates in staffing of clients to identify problems and establish goals and objectives for treatment and assumes management responsibilities for cases assigned.
• Participates in emergency services in order to provide rapid aid in cases of emotional crisis.
• Provides and/or coordinates a comprehensive follow-up to all clients for whom he/she has been responsible.
• Regularly review and monitor written documentation, providing corrective feedback and employee discipline as needed, to assure compliance with documentation requirements.
• Participate in hiring staff for the department.
• Report all critical incidents and staff responses to the supervising Assistant Director, or Director of the department.
• Review all travel vouchers and certify that mileage claimed is reasonable and for medically necessary activities.
• Functions in accordance with Operational Guidelines and within his/her professional code of ethics.
• Is sensitive and responsible to management needs, such as data collection, and program evaluation.
• Participates in all required meetings.
• Regularly participates in evaluation of self and assigned staff according to the system’s Operational Guidelines.
• Is responsive to all Quality Assurance procedures, cooperates with utilization review procedures, and follows established procedures, rules and regulations of the Clinical Records Department.
• Participate in the quality assurance process, including preparing/presenting QA cases and chart reviews.
• Performs other special functions as may, from time to time, be outlined and attached hereto.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions,
and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively before groups
of residents, employees of the organization, family members and other contacts in the community.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common
fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or
diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Shall be able to establish effective relationships via telephone and personal contacts. Shall be able to follow direction and accept supervision.
• Extensive knowledge of crisis intervention, communication skills and family education methods.
• Extensive skills in observation and assessment.
• Extensive skills and knowledge in treatment planning and the ability to work with service providers internal/external to the agency as well as families.
• Experience and knowledge of systems for providing family therapy.
• Extensive skills in supervision of clinical staff and expertise in training other professionals in clinical skills.
Experience and Education Qualifications:
• Master's degree or licensed professional with post licensure experience in mental health.
• Fully or independently licensed clinician (e.g., LCSW, LCPC, or Clinical Psychologist)
Supervisory Requirements:
• Provide leadership and guidance to all aspects of the department.
• Take an active role in monitoring the identification, development, and execution of strategic objectives.
• Involve, as appropriate, all team members to achieve goals.
• Effectively communicate to team members any changes and newsworthy events within the department or company.
• Handle difficult team member situations directly, using appropriate discretion and Human Resource advice to show respect for the individual
• Champion change and effectively manage the implementation of new ideas.
• Reinforces team approach throughout functions; support and solicit input from team members at all levels within the company.
Employment Requirements:
• Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect and fingerprint check.
• Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.
• All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.
• Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.
Physical Requirements:
ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up the 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible
amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shift.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking
and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
