Claims Technician

The Role:

The Claims Technician provides operational and administrative support to the claims team. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Obtains documents necessary to close a file (release, dismissal, final invoices and ensure invoices are paid before file closing)

  • Ensures the deductible or SIR is satisfied and notated before closing a file

  • Accurately documents claim files with all relevant claim documentation, correspondence and notes in compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory authorities

  • Keeps a task/diary on every file and follows up per company policies

  • Drafts correspondence to customers and defense counsel to identify yourself as the Closer on the file

  • Supports multiple teams in the Claims organization

  • Timely submits invoices for payment and ensure the file is documented

  • Timely closes files

  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external partners, insureds and colleagues

The US Claims team at Hiscox is a growing group of professionals working together to provide superior customer service and claims handling expertise. With strong growth across the US business, the Claims team is focused on delivering profitability while reinforcing Hiscox’s strong brand built on a long history of outstanding claims handling.

Requirements:

  • 0-3 years of experience in the insurance industry or another industry with transferrable skills

  • Basic knowledge of insurance claims handling practices

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills B.A./B.S degree from an accredited College or University preferred

Additional Factors Considered:

  • Other prior insurance experience in another department or function, such as operations or underwriting

  • Experience working at a law firm or as a paralegal

  • Commitment to professional development and learning

  • Experience “shadowing” other co-workers in a different business unit to improve awareness of Hiscox’s broader business

Salary: $60-$73k

The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.

**Please note that this position is hybrid and requires two (2) days in our office weekly**
