How does this role contribute to our collective success?

The Claims Analytics Lead is a new role at AXIS reporting into the Global Reserving team. The role will be accountable for summarizing and sourcing data from multiple claims and actuarial systems as well as reviewing the information to analyze, report, and opine on claims trends. The role will partner with both the reserving leads and their counterparts within the AXIS claims organization. This is a highly visible role that will be expected to help develop insights and strategy given the latest claims data.

What will you do in this role?

  • Partnering with reserving and claims colleagues to support analytics needs.

  • Building a strong knowledge of the different claims and actuarial systems at AXIS as well as any other related systems that may supplement the analysis.

  • Review external data and market developments to incorporate these data points into analyses.

  • Identify metrics and analyses that will enhance our understanding of current claims trends and highlight areas in need of further review.

  • Develop and implement plans to enhance reporting of claims data based on feedback from various stakeholders across AXIS. This will include prototyping future reporting suites focused on delivering key claims metrics for different areas of the business.

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of claims handling practices and derivations in practices over time to provide detailed insight that will influence actuarial and claims analysis and future corporate level strategy.

About you:

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • At least ten years of industry experience inclusive of data transformation, business intelligence, and hands on analytical experience

  • Firm understanding of insurance, claims, and actuarial concepts and terminology

  • Strong understanding of claims case reserving practices, general claims policies and procedures, as well as how these impact actuarial diagnostics and projections

  • Advanced knowledge of management information systems, Excel, SQL Server, ResQ/Unify, PowerBI, and VBA capabilities.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work occasional extended hours and travel on business as required.

  • Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $145,000 - $170,000 (Chicago, IL), $135,000 - $160,000 (Alpharetta, GA), $155,00 - $185,000 (New York/New Jersey). Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location. 

In addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance. On top of this, you will be eligible for a comprehensive and competitive benefits package which includes medical plans for you and your family, health and wellness programs, retirement plans, tuition reimbursement, paid vacation, and much more.  

Where this role is based in the United States of America, this role is Exempt for FLSA purposes.
