Job Description:

Parsons are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer - Airfield to support construction supervision and field engineering activities on a major airfield infrastructure project. This role requires a strong civil engineering background with experience in apron, taxiway, runway, and airfield pavement construction, including subgrade preparation, drainage, and utilities.

The ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in airfield or large-scale civil infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and aviation authority requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Support inspection and supervision of airfield civil works including pavements, subgrade preparation, base courses, and surface finishes for aprons, taxiways, and runways.
  • Verify construction methods, materials, and workmanship comply with approved drawings, specifications, and international airfield standards (ICAO / FAA).
  • Identify and report non-conformances, coordinating corrective actions with contractors and senior engineers.
  • Review contractor submittals, method statements, and material certifications for compliance with project requirements.
  • Assist senior engineers in evaluating design deviations and field issues, ensuring adherence to engineering standards.
  • Support constructability assessments and provide technical guidance to site teams.
  • Provide on-site civil engineering support during construction of airfield pavements, aprons, taxiways, and associated infrastructure.
  • Interpret drawings, resolve field issues, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure proper interfaces with utilities, drainage, and airfield systems.
  • Assist in testing, commissioning, and verification of constructed works.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure construction activities are aligned with project schedules and quality standards.
  • Participate in site meetings, inspections, and progress reviews.
  • Communicate technical requirements and site observations clearly to project stakeholders.
  • Ensure civil works activities comply with HSE requirements for airside and airport construction works.
  • Identify hazards and support mitigation measures in line with airport safety management systems (SMS).
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, test results, and punch lists.
  • Prepare daily and weekly reports documenting construction progress, challenges, and resolutions.
  • Ensure compliance with project documentation standards and reporting protocols.
  • Ensure civil works meet ICAO Annex 14, FAA, and local airport authority standards.
  • Support quality audits and inspections by regulatory authorities and project QA/QC teams.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with approved designs, specifications, and quality procedures.
  • Assist senior civil engineers in mentoring junior staff and ensuring consistent application of engineering standards and quality practices.
  • Promote collaboration and adherence to safety and quality standards among site teams.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in civil engineering, construction supervision, or inspection on airport, airfield, or large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with airfield pavements, aprons, taxiways, runways, and associated drainage/utilities is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles for airfield infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil/airfield drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC procedures, testing protocols, and inspection practices.
  • Good coordination, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in operational or restricted airside environments.
  • Certification in civil engineering inspection or QA/QC.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, BIM, or field verification tools.
  • Exposure to international airport standards (ICAO, FAA).
  • Experience on apron, taxiway, or runway projects is an advantage.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; Arabic is an advantage.
