Job Description:

Role Overview:

We are seeking a senior network management and automation specialist to lead strategy and execution for HPE’s network management solutions. This role focuses on helping customers manage their HPE Networking deployments using our own management systems, improving interoperability with third-party tools and open-source ecosystems, and implementing automation to perform network management and troubleshooting tasks. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise in networking with strong integration and automation skills to drive consistency and innovation across HPE’s networking portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop Network Management Strategy

  • Create an inventory of current network management products and modules, becoming familiar with their capabilities
  • Identify customer segments, coverage areas, and gaps in functionality.
  • Assess opportunities for NMS consolidation and develop a strategic blueprint.
  • Define actionable workstreams for tool sunset, merge, or migration.

Third-Party Integration Enablement

  • Analyze how customers manage HPE networks using third-party tools.
  • Improve interoperability through contributions to open-source projects, configuration guides, and plugins (e.g., Grafana/Telegraf pipelines, LibreNMS playbooks).
  • Lead product improvements for better integration with third-party tools.
  • Publish integration guides and reference dashboards for popular ecosystems.

Automation and AIOps Expertise

  • Become the cross-product subject matter expert on deploying automation for network management, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Experiment with AI technologies including foundational models, AI agents, MCP, and similar technologies.  Develop a strategy around how the business unit should make use of these technologies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

While we don’t expect candidates to have expertise in every technology listed, successful candidates will be able to show experience with a high percentage of these areas.

  • Domain Expertise: Network Management Systems (Enterprise & Service Provider), FCAPS, multi-vendor environments.
  • General Networking: TCP/IP, Ethernet switching, routing (OSPF, BGP), MPLS, Wi-Fi, network firewalls
  • Protocols & Telemetry: SNMPv2c/v3, NetFlow/IPFIX, sFlow, syslog, gNMI, NETCONF/RESTCONF, YANG models, OpenConfig, OpenTelemetry.
  • Open Source & Integrations: Grafana/Telegraf, Prometheus, ELK/Opensearch stacks, Kafka pipelines, LibreNMS; building plugins/exporters/dashboards.
  • Automation & Scripting: Python or Go; Ansible/Terraform/Nornir; CI/CD; API design/consumption; Linux; containers/K8s.
  • Architecture & Data: Data modeling, streaming pipelines, time-series storage, scaling/HA, multi-tenant design.
  • Security & Compliance: AAA, RBAC, secrets management, cert lifecycle, auditability, policy/compliance.
  • Communication & Influence: Ability to produce clear, authoritative roadmaps, decision memos, and developer-grade docs; strong cross-BU facilitation.

Preferred Experience:

  • 8–12+ years in network management/observability/automation roles (enterprise or telco).
  • Delivered production-grade integrations with at least two third-party ecosystems (e.g., Grafana/Prometheus, ELK, LibreNMS).
  • Experience with model-driven telemetry and YANG/OpenConfig implementations.
  • Experience with AI technologies such as agentic AI and MCP
