Major Responsibilities:

  • Participates as an executive member on Advocate system-wide healthcare delivery and process design including models of care delivery, physical work environment, technology and human resource management. Ensures unified and coordinated delivery model of patient care services
  • Plans and operationalizes new/expanded programs and new/expanded sites of care within the system or service area. Leverages emerging technology across sites of care
  • Cultivates physician relationships, and collaborates interdepartmentally, with Advocate resources and community partnerships. Identifies and assists in the recruitment of key physician specialists to provide comprehensive specialty care and grow market share
  • In conjunction with the CMO and CNO builds upon an existing infrastructure and identifies opportunities in collaboration with physicians to promote clinical services
  • Establishes and implements a multi-year strategic plan and corresponding business plans in alignment with the strategic plans for Advocate and individual sites of care. Reviews competitor analysis to evaluate growth opportunities and new market trends. Oversees master facility plans and design/construction projects
  • Provides executive leadership and guidance to inpatient and outpatient departments. Integrates the functions of assigned areas and promotes collaboration to improve care
  • Operational execution will be achieved through a combination of direct-line and matrixed reporting relationships
  • Directly accountable for the allocation of resources related to patient experience, capital and expense budgets, FTEs and physical space to ensure a unified and coordinated care delivery model
  • Joint leadership accountability for operational and financial performance including safety and health outcomes, patient experience, teammate and physician engagement, efficient throughput, operational efficiency, and philanthropic cultivation
  • Oversees the financial pro forma for new and expanded services including capital needs, staffing, equipment, profitability and training needs. This includes revenue, patient volumes and projections consistent with campus-wide growth targets and strategic plans. Ensures budgeting and financial management of areas of responsibility to meet quality patient care and fiscal goals.

NOTE: The following are standard accountabilities for leadership roles:

  • Provide oversight and ensure compliance with policies, procedures and standards developed to ensure quality, management and adherence to Accrediting Organization, IDPH, CDC, OSHA, UNOS, CMS, DNV and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
  • Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.

Education/Experience Required:

Advanced Degree in Business, or Hospital Administration; or Nursing; or Health Care Related Field. Typically requires minimum of 10 years experience with progressive leadership in healthcare management

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Demonstrated management skills including analytical skills, ability to work well with others, team building and conflict resolution skills. Effective communication and presentation skills. Ability to work across all lines of management and staff to promote good relationships among departments
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare finance, including managed care and healthcare reimbursement. Strong knowledge of clinical operations
  • Strong physician relations skills

This position requires travel and will be exposed to weather and road conditions. Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job. Exposed to a normal office environment.
