What this job involves:
The Chief Engineer is responsible for protecting and improving the value of client assets by ensuring building engineering systems continue to perform their intended function. This role implements and manages reliability-based maintenance functions, executes equipment inspection and monitoring programs, and defines maintenance best practices to improve overall mechanical equipment uptime. The Chief Engineer continuously evaluates current maintenance, operations, and reliability methods to enhance effectiveness and maximize value-maximizing performance.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
• Overseeing the maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems
• Supervising and managing engineers and maintenance staff including hiring, training, coaching, and personal development
• Creating and routinely updating documented plans that include preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance procedures
• Participating regularly in client-facing and property team communications
• Leading, creating, and managing the engineering budget and participating in the overall operating budget process
• Assisting in the development of capital improvement plans
• Selecting, scheduling, supervising, and directing contractors while monitoring and documenting performance
• Responding effectively to emergencies and service calls
• Leading and organizing ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs and procedures
Desired experience and technical skills:
Requirements:
• 7+ years of related experience as a Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer • Critical environment experience required, including data centers
• People management experience (leading a team)
• Universal EPA certification
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
Preferred:
• Trade school education, union training, military service, or college degree
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. with an on-call rotation.
Overtime as needed based on facility needs.
Compensation: $48-50/hour
This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
