The Role: Chief Compliance and Risk Officer - Mobility

The Team: Join a best-in-class global Legal, Compliance, Risk & Government Affairs team committed to delivering timely, practical and actionable advice to advance our business and safeguard our reputation, people, and assets.  This position reports directly to the EVP, Chief Legal Officer and will be a core member of the function’s leadership team, playing a critical role in the company.  This leader will build and then lead a strong, agile Compliance & Risk team to support a newly established public company. 

Responsibilities and Impact: The Chief Compliance and Risk Officer are responsible for supporting global business with approximately $1.8 billion in revenue and 3,500 employees worldwide.  This leader will build and then lead a strong, agile team to support a newly established public company operating sustainably with integrity. This leader will design, implement and operate a robust compliance and risk program (including applicable policies, procedures and training, in coordination with other internal functions) to ensure the company adheres to all relevant regulations and industry standards while identifying and mitigating risks and fostering a culture of compliance and ethical behavior.

Responsibilities:

Compliance Oversight

  • Develop, implement, and oversee the company’s compliance, privacy and risk management programs, ensuring alignment with local, state, federal, international and industry regulations.
  • Develop and lead a comprehensive Corporate Compliance Program to manage key compliance areas including Financial Crimes Monitoring, Securities Disclosure, Conflicts of Interest, Corporate Policies, Privacy, and Information & Data Governance
  • Monitor to ensure organizational conduct, systems, and decisions remain within legal, regulatory and ethical boundaries
  • Foster a culture of compliance and ethical behavior throughout the organization, including via employee training programs on compliance, legal requirements, and risk management best practices.
  • Create and manage action plans to address audit discoveries, compliance violations, and risk exposures.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to noncompliance situations, developing realistic plans to remediate issues.

Regulatory Monitoring & Adaptation

  • Monitor changes in laws, regulations, industry standards, and market trends across all applicable jurisdictions, ensuring the company adapts promptly and effectively
  • Adapt compliance frameworks and policies to address shifting regulatory requirements
  • Ensure organizational readiness for new and emerging regulatory obligations

Data & Cybersecurity

  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity laws and data protection regulations
  • Implement robust cybersecurity frameworks and privacy policies to protect sensitive information in collaboration with respective teams
  • Advise on cyber and data incidents and response protocols, including to ensure compliance with reporting obligations

Risk Oversight & Management

  • Oversee identification, assessment, and management of the organization's aggregate risk portfolio, including by business unit
  • Determine appropriate risk tolerance levels across the enterprise, including by business unit
  • Ensure risk management and control activities align with approved risk appetite and fiduciary obligations
  • Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify potential weaknesses, noncompliance issues, and hidden risks across business operations.

Strategic Leadership, Collaboration, Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management

  • Collaborate with business units and functions to integrate compliance and risk considerations into strategic decision-making to support organizational objectives while maintaining appropriate controls
  • Operate as a governance leader, involved in strategy, oversight, and systems that make compliance and ethics operational at scale
  • Demonstrate value proposition and address change fatigue as the organization shifts to adapt to operating as a soon-to-be newly established public company

Senior Leadership & Board Reporting

  • Advise executive leadership and department managers on compliance and risk assessments, exposure, and recommended mitigation strategies.
  • Provide regular compliance and risk reporting and strategic counsel to senior leadership and the Board of Directors, as appropriate
  • Provide thought leadership to senior leadership and Board of Directors to ensure we competitively mitigate risk while positioning the company for growth and meet the company’s short- and longer- term needs.

Resource Management & Optimization

  • Optimize resource allocation and priorities within budget constraints and staffing limitations of an agile team
  • Keep abreast of new developments and implement fit-for-purpose best practices across the organization
  • Leverage technology solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce costs

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $233,000-$298,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.  This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits. Basic Required Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of work experience progressively responsible for compliance or risk management, a business or operations unit, strategic planning, project management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, business administration, finance, business management, or a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and managing plans including, but not limited to risk management, crisis management, organizational resilience, and business continuity.
  • Proven capability to manage high-volume, complex environments with sound judgment and adaptability. 
  • Strong knowledge of legal requirements, industry regulations, and compliance and risk procedures.
  • Fosters inclusivity and manages emotions to achieve optimal business outcomes. Able to effectively pivot direction and delegate responsibilities, utilizing team strengths to meet strategic initiatives.
  • Exceptional business judgment and issue identification skills, coupled with strong problem-solving abilities. Adept at defining actionable strategies, and designing systems and processes to identify and mitigate risks in support of sustainable business objectives.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience leading teams and driving cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization. Actively seeks input from diverse sources to ensure engagement and influence stakeholder buy-in at all levels.
  • Ability to stay current with regulatory developments and industry trends.
  • Unwavering ethics and integrity, and an ability to stand firm on issues with independence, with a commitment to transparency and accountability.
  • Highly motivated and experienced leader with low ego and who brings a positive, collaborative, “can do” attitude to the workplace.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful track record of in-house or similar advisory experience.
  • Advanced degree in law, risk management, or related discipline.
  • Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., financial services, energy, healthcare).
  • A diploma or professional certification in compliance, risk management, Organizational Resilience Management Systems; Incident and Crisis Management, or Business Continuity Management.
  • Experience with change management.
  • Experience leading or supporting transformation initiatives or high-growth environments.
