Why we're hiring:

We are seeking a strategic, empathetic, and delivery-oriented Change Communications Manager to help stand up a formal change communications capability for WPP Open, WPP’s AI-powered marketing operating system.

This is a foundational role. You will not be joining a mature communications engine — you will help build it.

As WPP Open continues to evolve, our biggest challenge is not awareness, but adoption: helping people understand what is changing, why it matters, and how it affects the way they work. This role exists to make platform change legible, coherent, and actionable at scale.

You will partner closely with Product, Technology, Research, and Enablement leaders to translate complex, evolving roadmaps into clear narratives that drive confidence, capability, and behavior change across WPP’s global network.

The ideal candidate is a strong operator and storyteller — someone comfortable working in ambiguity, setting structure where none exists, and influencing without relying on formal authority.

What you'll do:

Strategy & Planning

  • Own the end-to-end change communications strategy for WPP Open, including standards, guardrails, and decision frameworks for what gets communicated, when, and how.
  • Develop and execute multi-channel communication plans that support platform launches, roadmap evolution, and new ways of working.
  • Conduct stakeholder and audience analysis across agencies, roles, and regions to identify communication needs, adoption barriers, and readiness gaps.
  • Define communication objectives, key messages, and success metrics aligned to product priorities, business outcomes, and adoption goals.
  • Partner closely with Product, Technology, Research, and Enablement leads to shape a clear, credible narrative — often before plans are fully formed.

Content Creation & Execution

  • Create and oversee high-quality communication assets, including:
    • platform and roadmap updates
    • feature launch narratives
    • user success stories and case studies
    • leadership talking points
    • FAQs, enablement content, and video scripts
  • Manage an integrated content calendar and delivery cadence, ensuring communications are timely, consistent, and purposeful.
  • Collaborate with design and creative partners to develop visual and interactive assets that improve comprehension and engagement.
  • Ensure messaging is clear, honest, and confidence-building — not promotional or overly technical.

Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory

  • Act as a trusted communications advisor to WPP Open leadership, helping shape how change is positioned and discussed.
  • Coach and equip agency leaders and people managers to act as effective champions for WPP Open.
  • Establish feedback loops (e.g., surveys, forums, qualitative inputs) to capture sentiment, identify friction, and continuously refine messaging.
  • Push back constructively on unclear, premature, or misaligned communication requests to protect signal over noise.

Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Define and track communication effectiveness using adoption-linked metrics, such as feature usage, workflow changes, proficiency signals, and sentiment — not just reach or opens.
  • Provide regular, insight-driven reporting to leadership on what is landing, what isn’t, and why.
  • Apply learnings to continuously improve change communication practices as the platform evolves.

What you'll need:

  • 7–10+ years of experience in internal communications, change communications, product communications, or a closely related role.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale technology, platform, or operating-model change within complex organisations.
  • Strong writing, editing, and narrative-building skills, with the ability to simplify complex or ambiguous topics for non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to work closely with Product and Technology teams, translating evolving roadmaps into clear, actionable messaging.
  • Comfort operating in fast-moving, matrixed, and often ambiguous environments — with the judgment to prioritize and say no.
  • Experience defining success metrics and using data and feedback to refine communication strategies.
  • Formal change management training or certification (e.g., Prosci) is highly desirable.
  • Experience with AI-powered platforms, marketing operating systems, or digital transformation initiatives is a strong plus.

Who you are:

You're open: We are inclusive and collaborative; we encourage the free exchange of ideas; we respect and celebrate diverse views. We are open-minded: to new ideas, new partnerships, new ways of working.

You're optimistic: We believe in the power of creativity, technology and talent to create brighter futures or our people, our clients and our communities. We approach all that we do with conviction: to try the new and to seek the unexpected.

You're extraordinary: We are stronger together: through collaboration we achieve the amazing. We are creative leaders and pioneers of our industry; we provide extraordinary every day.

What we'll give you:

  • Purpose and impact — the opportunity to shape how 100,000+ people experience and adopt a foundational platform.
  • Scale and influence — work at a scale unmatched in the industry, with direct access to senior leaders and product teams.
  • Challenging, meaningful work — build something new, not maintain something old.
  • Talented, motivated partners — collaborate with people who care deeply about making this work well.
