Certified Nursing Assistant - Progressive Care Unit
Part-Time, Third Shift
BHCOR-Cor ICU CCU/PCU Dept. I Corbin, KY
PCU is a 20-bed unit capable of monitoring patients via central telemetry 24 hours a day. PCU serves as a place for the monitoring and care of patients age 16 to geriatric with moderate or potentially severe physiologic instability, requiring technical support but not necessarily artificial life support.
Performs care requires substantial specialized knowledge, judgement and nursing skills based upon the principles of psychological, biological, physical and social sciences in the application of the nursing process. Utilizes high-level assessment skills to design and ensure multidisciplinary patient care to meet holistic needs, incorporating established practice guidelines and regulatory standards.
Description:
Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides patient care and clinical support by measuring and recording vital signs, weights, and intake and output according to unit routine. Assists patients with personal hygiene, bathing, oral and skin care, toileting, feeding, hydration, ambulation, transfers, and repositioning while maintaining patient dignity and safety. Collects specimens, documents patient information, reports changes or concerns to the nurse, and assists with admissions, transfers, discharges, and department-specific procedures as directed. Delivers excellent customer service by responding promptly and professionally to the needs of patients and visitors while following hospital safety, infection control, and quality improvement policies and procedures.
Requirements:
Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or successful completion of first year of a Nursing program and validation of a clinical rotation consistent with level of education.
High School Diploma or equivalent
Basic Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of hire)
