ROLE SUMMARY
The Category Management Sr. Associate role supports a set of Pfizer categories within a specific function (e.g., GSC, PX and External Workforce).
They are responsible for delivering exceptional sourcing and contracting value to Pfizer stakeholders through timely development, oversight, and delivery of global category strategies aligned with business needs. Value is defined by the quality of goods and services based on cost and the ability to anticipate and deliver on future business needs (defining future strategy and being solution oriented in support of the business).
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Category Strategy Design & Management
Contributes to the delivery of exceptional category value to Pfizer stakeholders through the timely development, oversight, and delivery of global category strategies aligned with business needs
Understands, explores and applies knowledge of market trends, industry best practices, and emerging technologies related to the categories managed, and incorporate new ideas and innovations into sourcing strategies
Conducts in-depth analysis of sourcing category suppliers and innovations to identify opportunities to better serve Pfizer’s needs via supplier solutions
Partners with senior Category Management team members to identify and prioritize sourcing opportunities
Supports the formulation and documentation of category strategies, where applicable
Translates categories strategies into tactical execution plans for Category Execution teams
Contributes to the execution of larger sourcing projects, directly supporting the activities, as needed (e.g., business stakeholder requirements gathering, supply market analysis, etc.)
Maintains and enhances common category specific templates and tools (TCO / value chain models, term sheets, etc.)
Coordinates and contributes to data quality efforts led by Sourcing Intelligence team to ensure high quality category insights
Identifies potential metrics to measure and continuously improve data-driven supplier outcomes
Analyzes and extracts insights from reports generated by Sourcing Intelligence team
Identifies potential taxonomy amendments and opportunities to enhance the insights used to formulate category strategies
Drives visibility of unmanaged spend and strategy to increase managed spend
Leverages an in-depth understanding of Pfizer policies and procedures and ensure compliance with categories managed by team
Prepares presentations and other key documentation for use by senior Category Management team members
Contributes to supplier diversity and sustainability initiatives related to managed categories, and promote responsible sourcing practices across the organization
Supplier Relationship Management
Applies understanding of core supplier relationship management processes and supports related SRM activities
Conducts the preparation of analysis of supplier performance in support of regular business reviews with suppliers
Analyzes existing relationships, identifies potential areas for improvement from supplier agreements and proactively works with category execution teams to implement enhancements
Contributes to supplier segmentation strategy to categorize suppliers based on their criticality to the business, risk level, and potential for innovation and growth
Business Partner Relationship Support
Develops an understanding of business partner sourcing needs for relevant categories and translates business partner needs into sourcing strategies
Documents outcomes from regular engagement with key business partners
Learns the best practices for relationship building with key business partners
Category Management
Typically supports but doesn’t directly manage spend for categories under management
Typically support 2-3 different categories but mainly PX and External workforce
Typically provides support to categories of medium or low complexity
Typically provides support to CMs
Typically interacts with Stakeholders and Suppliers related with PX, SC and EW
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations & Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline with 3 years of relevant experience; OR a Master’s degree with 1 year of relevant experience; OR an Associate's degree with 6 years of relevant experience; OR 8 years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or equivalent
Highly analytics and strong in digital and passioned about AI
Ability to understand Business / Function needs and commercial strategies as input into global category strategy development
Self-driven and entrepreneurial
Ability to collaborate and work with cross-functional teams
Strong business operations acumen with ability to track project / value measurement
Strong financial acumen
Comfort with ambiguity & ability to identify innovative sourcing strategies
Effective project management & communications skills
Business English required
Track record of influencing for working differently and success translating ideas into outcomes that meet business needs
Experience working on cross-functional teams
Experience of supplier performance and relationship management
Foundational knowledge of the sourcing & contracting processes
Basic knowledge of Pfizer Ariba, System Application and e-sourcing (RFx) procurement systems, processes and procedures
Proficiency in data analysis to support decision-making and identify actions
Understanding of data & analytics execution (e.g., TCO modeling, presentation storyboarding skills)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software
Exposure to financial models (ex. scenario planning and forecasting)
Time management & communications skills
Contract management skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certifications preferred: CPSM, CPM, PMP, MCIPS
