Derby | 37 hours | Hybrid

We’re seeking a Capability Manager to lead Maintenance & Overhaul Engineering in Derby. This is a critical role supporting ongoing transformation, with a strong focus on reducing Shop Visit Costs across the business.

What you will be doing

As an Engineering Leader, you will lead a high-performing team, ensuring capability, capacity and delivery are aligned to both current priorities and future strategic needs. You will play a key role in shaping engineering strategy, deploying talent effectively, and driving operational excellence across the full engineering lifecycle.

Key Accountabilities

  • Leadership of a highly capable Engineering team to deliver Shop Visit Cost Reduction initiatives, through our Engine Management Programmes (EMP), Shop Visit Workscopes & Technical Manuals
  • Work collaboratively to transform how we operate to improve how we identify, execute and validate Shop Visit Cost initiatives, this includes improved use of data through Digital/AI
  • Lead oversight and delivery of our MRO Sampling Programme
  • Define and deliver the functional strategy, aligning people, capability, capacity and budget to programme demands
  • Provide technical and functional leadership, ensuring safe, compliant and high-quality engineering delivery
  • Establish robust governance and assurance frameworks, maintaining regulatory and lifecycle compliance
  • Lead workforce planning and capability development, including recruitment, subcontracting and professional development
  • Build and develop a high-performing team, embedding a strong culture of performance, accountability and continuous improvement
  • Drive operational excellence through improved processes, tools, and knowledge management
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and the global supply chain to ensure aligned, effective delivery

Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
  • Strong engineering judgement with knowledge of sector customers and programmes
  • Proven leadership capability, with experience building and developing high-performing teams
  • Experience driving process improvement and delivering business impact
  • Understanding of quality standards, policies and engineering processes
  • Willingness to travel to support engagement across the global MRO network
