Calibration Technician

A materials testing and calibration services organization is seeking a Calibration Technician to support laboratory operations involving asphalt, soil, and concrete testing equipment. This position is well suited for early-career candidates, including recent graduates with a mechanical or related engineering degree and strong laboratory project experience. Candidates with limited professional experience but a solid understanding of lab safety standards are encouraged to apply.

Position Overview
The Calibration Technician provides calibration, maintenance, and customer support services for materials testing equipment while ensuring compliance with applicable laboratory standards. This role involves hands-on technical work, customer interaction, and collaboration with internal teams.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform high-quality calibration services for asphalt, soil, and concrete testing equipment
• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the service lifecycle
• Support the gauge service team and assist with additional operational tasks as needed
• Perform full three-block and five-block gauge calibrations
• Prepare and deliver calibration reports and documentation to meet customer and compliance requirements
• Perform calibration activities in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards
• Utilize proprietary calibration software during the calibration process
• Build standard blocks and maintain gauges through cleaning, lubrication, inspection, and diagnostics
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory workspace
• Provide timely updates to customers to ensure a high-quality service experience
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications and Experience
• Entry-level candidates are eligible with a mechanical or related degree and strong laboratory project experience
• Preference for candidates with one to three years of hands-on laboratory or calibration experience
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with clear written and verbal communication abilities
• Excellent organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability and strong attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including spreadsheets, forms, correspondence, and certificates
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with minimal supervision
• Willingness to work in laboratory environments involving asphalt, concrete, and soil materials
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record

Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
• Ability to stand for extended periods while working with equipment
• Must meet eligibility requirements for company vehicle insurance coverage

Work Environment
• Laboratory facilities include minor, fully shielded radiation sources used exclusively for materials testing
• All work areas are monitored and controlled under strict safety protocols
• Exposure risk is minimal and remains well below established occupational safety thresholds
