The Role and Impact:
Join Intel as a CAD / VLSI / EDA Software Student, where you will contribute to the development of advanced design automation solutions that enable next-generation semiconductor products. In this role, you will work closely with hardware engineers, VLSI BE designers, and process technology teams to design, develop, and optimize CAD and EDA software tools used across the VLSI design flow.
This student position provides hands-on exposure to front-end and back-end VLSI design, including logic synthesis, timing analysis, physical design, verification, and design-for-manufacturability. You will assist in enhancing tool performance, automation, and scalability, while helping integrate hardware, software, and process technologies. Through close collaboration with cross-functional teams, your contributions will directly impact Intel's ability to deliver high-quality, high-performance silicon products.
This opportunity will allow you to build strong technical foundations in EDA software development, gain insight into real-world chip design challenges, and explore long-term career paths in semiconductor engineering within a collaborative and innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support the design and development of CAD and EDA software tools used in VLSI design flows, including synthesis, verification, timing, and physical design.
Assist in algorithm development, optimization, and automation to improve tool runtime, memory efficiency, and quality of results (QoR).
Contribute to hardware-software integration by enabling efficient interaction between EDA tools and silicon design requirements.
Collaborate with RTL, PD, verification, and process technology teams to support system-level chip design and deployment.
Participate in debugging, testing, and validation of CAD flows and infrastructure.
Use scripting and programming to build automation, analyze design data, and improve productivity.
Engage in code reviews and documentation to maintain high software quality and reliability.
Apply self-learning and research to explore new VLSI methodologies, tools, and flows.
Mandatory requirements:
• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Availability for 3 working days a week and 4 semesters left till graduation
• Knowledge of VLSI design fundamentals, including digital logic, timing, and basic physical design concepts.
• Proficiency in Python, C/C++, TCL or similar programming languages, with experience in scripting for automation.
• Familiarity with CAD / EDA concepts such as synthesis, STA, place-and-route, or verification flows.
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience in debugging software or design flows.
• Proven experience in basic software application development
• Academic projects, personal projects, or internships are acceptable
• Mandatory knowledge and practical use of AI software development tools
