DESCRIPTION:
At Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll join a collaborative procurement and planning team dedicated to enabling our mission of making the world healthier, cleaner and safer. As a Buyer Planner, you'll create and maintain the companies master production schedule,
manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of critical materials while maintaining quality standards. You'll collaborate across functions to optimize costs, improve processes, and support business growth through strategic sourcing initiatives.
Working with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers, you'll handle purchase orders, maintain accurate product data, and resolve supply chain challenges. You'll use your analytical skills to evaluate market conditions, assess supplier performance, and identify opportunities for improvement. The role offers excellent opportunities to develop procurement expertise while contributing to life-changing scientific advances.
You will:
- Create and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS)
- Effectively plan instrumentation build and test through the facility, maximizing available capacity and resources.
- Review purchase requests for completeness and compliance with company requirements.
- Utilize MRP for the procurement of materials to ensure the best possible material availability for production and service requirements while controlling inventory levels.
- Manage purchase orders by implementing the appropriate actions in the supply chain as driven by changes in the production schedule (expedite, defer, cancel, etc.).
- Negotiate with suppliers to drive sourcing savings in line with business goals
- Establish and build effective relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders within the organization!
- Review key performance indicators with supplier quality and assist in driving improvements.
- Communicate effectively with business leads and Planning to assure supply.
- Embrace and participate in PPI continuous improvement initiatives to identify improvements and cost savings to the business.
REQUIREMENTS:
- GCSE's in English and Math as a minimum
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) or equivalent preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience purchasing / planning in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with an ERP system required, preferably SAP.
- Good communication skills, written and verbal, in the English language and good presentation skills.
- Experience in supplier relationship management
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, etc.) and other similar software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to critically think, problem solve, and work efficiently under pressure Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Self-starter and independent worker who can work in a fast-paced environment
