Job Description:

Join the BU Accounting team, the largest group within our Financial Reporting Team. This role offers a prime opportunity to deepen your understanding of the accounting close process and sharpen your financial statement analytical skills.

You will be joining a team of experienced and knowledgeable accountants dedicated to making your training a huge success. We are looking for a team player who can easily adapt to competing deadlines and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

As a Business Unit Accountant, you will provide insights into the operational effectiveness of the company by preparing accounting related to direct costs, operating expenses, revenue drivers and balance sheet account management.

Inventory, Cost of Sales & Revenue Accounting

  • Review and validate the accuracy of the automated inventory accrual process...

  • Reconcile financial data across the Autobody Management Systems and the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, providing commentary and guidance on variance analysis to key stakeholders.

  • Analyze gross margin trends and provide support to resolve subsequent inquiries.

  • Contribute to the comprehensive accounting and reporting for Inventory and Revenue.

Operating Expenses & General Ledger

  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the month-end close by effectively managing all required operating expense accruals.

  • Perform trend analysis on operating expenses and report on significant budget-to-actual variances to support key cost management decisions.

  • Maintain financial integrity by identifying and resolving unusual general ledger entries that impact expense reporting.

  • Provide general close support and accruals.

Balance Sheet Management

  • Execute timely and accurate reconciliation of all balance sheet general ledger accounts against supporting documentation.

  • Identify unusual entries posted to balance sheet accounts and correctly clear balances.

  • Coordinate balance sheet account clearing with other teams or departments to ensure accuracy.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Undergraduate degree in Business (preferably Accounting or Finance).

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in accounting and financial functions.

  • Certifications: CPA designation (or similar) or currently working towards completion.

  • Industry Knowledge: Specialized knowledge in auto body work, retail, and/or mergers and acquisitions is considered an asset.

Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to accuracy and detail.

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced computer skills, specifically in Excel (creating spreadsheets, formulas, linking, and correspondence).

  • Communication: Strong professional communication and interpersonal skills to work with all levels of people inside and outside the organization.

  • Professionalism: Confidence to enforce financial guidelines while maintaining rapport, and the ability to handle confidential information.

  • Work Style: Organized, able to multi-task, and possess a passion for providing excellent customer service.

  • Systems Proficiency: Proficiency with the ERP system Workday, and industry-specific Autobody Management Systems such as CCC1 or ASE, is a significant asset.

Work Environment

  • This is a sedentary role requiring the ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.

  • The position involves extensive use of a computer.

  • This position operates under a Hybrid Model. Successful candidates will be expected to work from our office location for a minimum of 4 days per week, with the remainder of the time available for remote work.

    Compensation Details:

    Expected Pay Range: 

    $50,000 - $70,000 / Year

    Compensation is commensurate with skill, education and experience. 

    Supplemental Pay: 

    This position may also be eligible for Bonus opportunities tied to individual or business initiatives.
