What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers competitive pay commensurate with education and experience.  The hiring range for this position is $60,064/year - $78,000/year, based on experience.

Location & Schedule

In this position, you can expect to work on-site, primarily at the Denver City and County Building (1437 Bannock Street) in downtown Denver. All Mayor’s Office positions are in-person roles. We believe we can listen better, learn more and act faster when we are able to build strong relationships in the same physical space.

What You’ll Do

The Mayor’s Office with the City and County of Denver (CCD) is seeking a detail-oriented, community-focused professional to serve as an Outreach and Board Operations Administrator. This role blends relationship-centered community engagement with independent administrative and operational responsibility, ensuring the Mayor’s Office engages effectively, equitably, and efficiently with Denver’s diverse communities.

This position serves as a primary administrative coordinator for two departments: the Mayor’s Office of Community Outreach and Mayor’s Office Boards & Commissions, operating in a fast-paced, collaborative, and politically sensitive environment.

Reporting to the Mayor’s Outreach Director, as the Outreach and Board Operations Administrator, your scope of work will focus on:

Operational & Administrative Leadership

  • Independently oversee operational workflows for community outreach and Boards & Commissions functions

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve administrative and operational processes

  • Manage complex scheduling, event logistics, and competing ensuring proactive scheduling

  • Coordinate stakeholder meetings, public engagements, and multi-departmental initiatives

  • Prepare executive memos, operational reports, and data analysis to inform leadership decision-making

  • Ensure compliance with city policies and documentation standards

Boards & Commissions Administration

  • Oversee all administrative aspects of the Mayor’s Boards & Commissions appointment process from application through appointment

  • Manage tracking systems, documentation, and statutory deadlines

  • Maintain official records and CRM databases ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance

  • Prepare official memos and correspondence for Mayor’s Office leadership and Board leadership

  • Cultivate and develop relationships with board liaisons, agency leaders, and potential applicants.

Community Outreach Coordination

  • Support engagement with residents, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community partners through constituent communications and updates

  • Coordinate logistics for meetings, workshops, and citywide special initiatives and events

  • Track engagement metrics and community feedback for Outreach Team

  • Support with research and evaluation of partnership and engagement opportunities

Stakeholder Communication & Coordination

  • Facilitate effective communication and build strong working relationships with internal teams, city departments, and external partners to support the work of Mayor’s Office community-facing teams.

  • Provide professional, diplomatic support in high-visibility or politically sensitive situations

  • Cultural competency and demonstrated ability to work effectively with Denver’s diverse communities

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage stakeholders with professionalism, diplomacy, and respect

  • Ability to navigate complex or sensitive community issues with sound judgment and political awareness

  • Ability to gather, track, and synthesize community feedback to inform follow-up actions and leadership decision-making

Operational & Administrative Expertise

  • Strong organizational and operational management skills, including independently administering complex workflows and processes

  • Advanced time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and high-volume requests

  • Ability to coordinate complex logistics involving multiple stakeholders, departments, and timelines

  • Experience maintaining official records, tracking systems, and CRM databases with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality

  • Remains flexible, demonstrates the ability to adjust to changing priorities, work environments, and tasks with a positive attitude, while remaining focused on achieving goals and maintaining high-quality standards.

  • Ability to develop, evaluate, and improve administrative processes to enhance efficiency and service delivery

  • Ability to be proactive in identifying and solving potential issues before they arise, while also adapting quickly to unexpected changes

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare clear reports, summaries, and operational updates

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Salesforce, calendar management software, as well as the ability to learn new platforms quickly.

Team Communication & Executive Support

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting executive-level correspondence, briefing materials, and presentations

  • Work as a collaborative team player capable of effectively working with diverse individuals, including Mayor’s Office staff, government departments, and external partners. Solid experience coordinating and integrating messaging across various platforms and channels.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with elected officials, senior leadership, commissioners, applicants, and community members

  • Discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential or politically sensitive information

  • Adaptability and resilience in fast-paced, high-visibility, and politically dynamic environments

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree.

  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience administering business operations or operational programs and/or assisting professional/management staff with administrative or operational functions.

  • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
