As the Business Intelligence Lead for the Oregon State Hospital (OSH), you will manage the data program which includes parallel data governance and data stewardship initiatives, work with hospital leaders and managers to develop program goals and priorities and develop working relationships with the hospital’s technology services department as well as other technology partners.

OSH is in the process of implementing an electronic medical record and will begin the development work needed in preparation for a data warehouse. You will work as the liaison between the hospital and our technology partners to develop, adopt, and utilize the data warehouse, as well as lead other data system projects. This project will require extensive planning, requirement gathering, and development of data definitions, policies and standards. Additional roles will include serving as Chair of the Data Governance Committee, leading work teams toward compliance with the Joint Commission information management standards, completing data/tool validation assessments, and writing data definitions, policies, and standards.

The long-term vision for the program is to provide the hospital with the capability to produce accurate, timely, high-volume, and actionable data. Key outcomes will include performance metrics and benchmarking; data mining and statistical analysis; an infrastructure for strategic reporting, planning, and data visualization; and strategic processes that allow the hospital to be data driven, able to identify, create, represent, distribute, and enable business knowledge.

What We Are Looking For 

Minimum Qualifications

These qualifications must be addressed in your application to be considered for this position.   

A bachelor’s degree in in any discipline that included six-quarter units in statistics or quantitative analysis methods and procedures, and three years of experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports. Two of the three years must have included coordinating complex research projects.

Five years of research experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports. Two of the five years must have included coordinating complex research projects.

  • Advanced knowledge and experience with parallel data governance and data stewardship.

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing data warehouses, including comprehensive planning, requirements gathering, and development of data definitions, policies, and standards.

  • Experience developing performance metrics and benchmarking; data mining and statistical analysis; an infrastructure for strategic reporting, planning, and data visualization; and strategic processes that allow the hospital to be data driven,

  • Skilled in ensuring data quality, integrity, and effective data management through robust governance practices.

  • Experience in project management utilizing project management methodologies.

  • Proficiency in SAP Crystal Reports, Structured Query Language (SQL), Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft Office, Power BI, and Tableau. 

  • Experience consulting with executive leaders and managers to develop program goals and priorities.

Special Requirements

  • Must have experience with the development and management of data warehouse environments.

  • Extensive experience using a wide variety of quantitative and statistical methodologies as well as general sociological, demographic, and research design.

Preference Statement

Preference will be given to applicants with experience developing electronic medical records systems.
