Business Development Banker III

Summary Develops and/or refers profitable deposit, loan, investment, and any other financial relationships in the applicable market through direct marketing techniques, personal solicitation, and involvement in community affairs; maintains extensive contact with customers, prospects, and the community while conducting relationships in a manner that will enhance the overall marketing effort of the bank; provides premier personal service to market and retail customers by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Establishes, coordinates, and/or refers financial relationships in the applicable market, including but not limited to consumer/commercial loans, business purpose loans, personal/business checking accounts, time deposits, personal/business Investment options, and cash management services.
  • Works with Banking Center Managers, Private Bankers, Commercial Relationship Bankers, and Market Relationship Bankers in acquiring and servicing profitable deposit and loan relationships.
  • Develops new business by contacting prospects and customers.
  • Prepares timely recommendations to Senior Management regarding deposit and loan products and competitive rates in our markets.
  • Follows up on and creates specific leads offering business development opportunities, promoting the bank’s services (including investment and insurance referrals), placing the prospect in contact with the appropriate bank personnel and following through to determine the results of the meeting.
  • Maintains an active role in community affairs by coordinating and/or participating in community organizations, projects, or events to improve the bank’s visibility in the area and offer further opportunities to acquire useful information as well as enhancing business opportunities and the marketing efforts of the bank as well as enhancing retention of existing customers. 
  • Serves on various civic committees, as designated by the manager, to increase the bank’s community involvement and maintain extensive contact with customers, the public, and the community, conducting relationships in a manner that will enhance the overall marketing effort of the bank.
  • Serves as a client relationship representative to all customers by listening, researching, and complaint/inquiry resolution as needed.
  • Promotes bank services and products to improve client awareness and strengthen community knowledge.
  • Develops and maintains a business, personal, and/or public fund deposit portfolio and/or loan portfolio, when applicable, including all day-to-day responsibilities with each.
  • Prepares loan documents and opens new accounts when necessary.
  • Recommends changes and new procedures to eliminate weaknesses in practices and procedures.
  • Keeps abreast of current trends in banking by regularly attending seminars, reading appropriate periodicals, and attending applicable training.

Education and/or Experience                                                     

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; minimum of fifteen years strong performance in client relations in banking, investments, or sales arenas; working knowledge of federal/state laws related to banking/lending practices; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills                                                               

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Internet, Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel.  Ability to use basic office machines.  Ability to learn bank-specific software such as MPC, IBS, ADP, etc.

Bank Culture/Customer Service Skills

Ability and judgment to interact and communicate appropriately with other employees, customers and supervisor.  Ability to serve customers, both internal and external, (community/public) in a manner that will reflect superior customer relations and enhance the overall marketing effort of Origin Bank.

Physical Demands  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
