As a Business Development Associate, you will play a vital role in driving the growth of our firm by identifying, nurturing, and converting new employer group opportunities. This role bridges early-stage prospecting with hands-on coordination through the sales funnel and into implementation, ensuring a seamless handoff to our client service teams. You will be instrumental in maintaining pipeline momentum and creating an outstanding first impression for new clients.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·Support the growth of new employer group opportunities by conducting outbound prospecting, lead follow-up, and referral outreach under the guidance of senior sales leadership.

·Build and maintain an active prospect list of employer groups and broker partners, focusing on consistent outreach and meeting-setting activity.

·Conduct introductory discovery conversations with prospective employers and brokers to understand basic benefit needs, current challenges, and interest level.

·Qualify opportunities by gathering key information (group size, current benefits, renewal timing, decision makers) and determining next steps.

·Schedule and coordinate meetings for senior sales leaders and account executives, ensuring proper preparation and follow-up.

·Nurture early-stage relationships through timely follow-up, educational touchpoints, and consistent communication.

·Assist in proposal and presentation preparation, including data collection, internal coordination, and meeting logistics.

·Accurately track all sales activity and opportunities in the CRM, maintaining clean data and clear notes to support pipeline visibility.

·Learn the firm’s solutions, carrier partners, and value proposition, developing the ability to clearly articulate core offerings and differentiators.

·Participate in training, coaching, and ride-along meetings, applying feedback to improve prospecting effectiveness and conversation quality.

Demonstrate strong professionalism, responsiveness, and follow-through in all interactions with prospects, brokers, and internal teams.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Higher education degree, preferably bachelor’s degree

  • 1-3 years of experience in business development, sales support, or client services inside the benefits / insurance industry

  • Comfortable working in CRM platforms and experience using Microsoft office

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced work environment

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; must be able to work effectively coordinating between various members in the organization to be successful in role. Effective oral and written communication skills required

  • Flexible and adaptable; energetic and self-driven

  • Proactive and collaborative mindset with a desire to grow in client-facing career path.
