What you'll be doing

As a Business Development Analyst with CIBC Private Wealth, you'll play a pivotal role in driving sales growth and expanding our market presence. You'll design and deliver customized investment proposals that address client needs, leveraging your technical expertise and strong project management skills. Working closely with Portfolio Management, Sales, and Marketing teams, you'll ensure proposals are accurate, tailored, and aligned with our organizational objectives. You'll support advisors with communication materials and conduct research to integrate specialized investment solutions. Your proactive engagement with high net worth prospects and referral sources will help us deepen relationships and identify new business opportunities. You'll also help plan and execute business development events, contributing to our outreach and promotional activities.

How you'll succeed

  • Customized Proposal Development – Create tailored investment proposals based on insights from prospect meetings, ensuring solutions meet specific client objectives and requirements.

  • Project Management – Manage the end-to-end proposal process, coordinating input from Portfolio Management, Sales, and other stakeholders to deliver timely, high-quality proposals.

  • Team Collaboration – Work closely with internal teams to ensure proposals are cohesive, factually accurate, and aligned with the overall client narrative.

  • Advisor Communication Support – Draft clear and effective emails and supporting materials for advisors to use in client presentations, ensuring consistency and clarity.

  • Research and Solution Development – Research and evaluate specialized investment ideas or approaches (such as options strategies, AI-driven portfolios, liability-driven investing, or cash flow analysis) based on prospect inquiries, integrating these insights into proposals.

  • Sales growth and outreach – Lead outbound marketing efforts through targeted phone calls, emails, and digital campaigns to identify and pursue new business opportunities.

  • Event planning and execution – Plan, organize, and execute business development events, including seminars, webinars, and client appreciation events.

  • Reporting and analysis – Provide insights and analysis on business development activities, event outcomes, and market opportunities, delivering regular reports to senior management.

Who you are

  • You have a strong technical foundation. You possess in-depth knowledge of investment products, portfolio construction, and financial planning concepts.

  • You’re an experienced collaborator. You bring at least 3 years of relevant experience in business development, sales, or marketing within financial services, and you excel working across multiple teams.

  • You’re a project manager. You have experience managing complex projects and coordinating input from diverse stakeholders to deliver high-quality results.

  • You’re a skilled communicator. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity and attention to detail.

  • You’re analytical and proactive. You have strong research and analytical skills, and you approach tasks with organization and initiative.

  • You’re client-focused. You understand the importance of customizing proposals and materials to address unique client needs.

  • You’re tech-savvy. You are proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package.  This role has an expected base salary range of $120,000 - $165,000 for the Newport Beach, CA market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position.  The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component. CIBC offers a full range of benefits and programs to meet our employee’s needs; including Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Life Insurance, Disability, and Other Insurance Plans, Paid Time Off (including Sick Leave, Parental Leave, and Vacation), Holidays,  and 401(k), in addition to other special perks reserved for our team members.
