The Position

In PTD, we collaborate to develop robust manufacturing processes and quality control systems to efficiently transform scientific ideas into products. We reliably deliver quality products to patients enrolled in clinical studies around the world. The "Synthetic Molecules Technical Development" (PTDC) function is crucial for the technical development of our synthetic molecule pipeline. It manages the manufacturing of both drug substances and drug products needed for clinical studies, and also handles the commercial manufacturing of synthetic molecule drug substances. In this role, you will be part of the centralized enabling function for PTD Basel “Operations Support & Compliance” (PTDC-T).

The Opportunity

As the PTD Basel Business Continuity Management (BCM) Lead for Technical Development, you will be the primary architect of resilience for the PTD functions in Basel. You are responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a robust Business Continuity Management (BCM) program that ensures all PTD functions in Basel remain operational during disruptive events. You will act as a subject matter expert, guiding the site through risk mitigation and ensuring global compliance.

Furthermore, as a SHE Expert, you will own and manage centralized PTD Basel SHE processes and serve as the organization's first point of contact for safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Continuity Management (BCM): Take ownership of the BCM process for PTD in Basel, ensuring readiness and robustness.

  • Operational Readiness: Schedule and facilitate annual updates and BCM exercises to test site preparedness and identify areas for improvement.

  • Guidance & Reporting: Provide expert consultation to functional leads on their specific BCM programs and report all incidents that could adversely affect critical site or functional activities to the PTD/PT BCM Lead

  • Global Collaboration: Participate in educational initiatives and collaborative activities defined by the PTD/PT BCM Lead to align with global standards

  • Drive Safety Culture & Training: Drive SHE awareness across the site, ensuring that staff are trained and prepared

  • SHE Expert: Own and manage centralized PTD Basel SHE processes (e.g., management of narcotics, safety data sheets, safety culture), and serve as the first point of contact for the organization regarding SHE procedures.

This position is a fixed-term position for 2 years.

Who you are

  • You have a Bachelor's and/or higher degree in chemistry or pharmaceutical sciences, and at least 5 years of experience within the chemical or pharmaceutical industry.

  • You have demonstrated proficiency in Business Continuity Management and safety excellence.

  • You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in both German and English, with a talent for simplifying complex topics and delivering key messages to senior leadership.

  • You have advanced influencing, negotiation, and presentation abilities.

  • You exhibit exceptional skills in managing internal and external stakeholders, effectively balancing expectations and articulating ideas across different organisational levels.

  • You have an understanding of pharmaceutical development and manufacturing processes (which is a plus).
