Our Canadian operation, Canaccord Genuity Corp., is seeking a hybrid Business Analyst / Data Developer for a 4-month contract to complete the implementation of our in-house VIA (Vendor Invoice Allocation) system and deliver executive-level reporting. VIA is a SQL-based platform used to manage vendor invoices, allocate expenses to departments and individuals, manage platform entitlements (e.g., Bloomberg, LSEG Workspace), and store contract metadata. The contractor’s primary focus will be to complete the data integration from our existing Accounts Payable system (Concur) to the VIA database, ensure that all required financial and associated vendor contract data is correctly recorded and develop a reporting interface on VIA data model, focusing on vendor and financial management.

Responsibilities:

VIA System Completion & Data Modeling

  • Review existing VIA SQL schema, invoice allocation logic, entitlement structures, and Contracts module.
  • Complete outstanding implementation components of VIA to support accurate financial reporting and analytics.
  • Optimize SQL views, tables, and stored procedures to support reporting requirements.

Concur Integration (API / Batch Processing)

  • Implement API or batch-based ingestion of expense data from Concur into VIA.
  • Map Concur expense data to VIA entities (vendors, platforms, entitlements, departments, individuals).
  • Automate data refreshes and ensure data integrity, reconciliation, and auditability.

Expense Dashboard Enablement

  • Use the existing dashboard wireframe to define data requirements and measures.
  • Build Power BI datasets and semantic models backed by VIA SQL data.
  • Create DAX measures to support key metrics, including: expense trends by fiscal year, top vendor spend, contract-linked expenses
  • Ensure dashboards are performant, intuitive, and aligned with senior leadership expectations.

Business Analysis & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work with business and finance stakeholders to validate reporting logic and business rules.
  • Translate dashboard and reporting requirements into technical data structures.
  • Document data models, integrations, and assumptions for long-term maintainability.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3–5+ years in a Business Analyst / Data Developer / BI Developer role.
  • Advanced SQL skills (complex queries, transformations, performance tuning).
  • Strong Power BI experience (data modeling, DAX, dataset design).
  • Experience integrating third-party systems via API or scheduled batch processes.
  • Experience with expenses or financial systems (eg. Concur).
  • Ability to work independently in a partially implemented environment.
  • Familiarity with vendor management, contracts, and market data platforms (eg. Bloomberg, FactSet), is an asset
  • Experience in the financial services industry is an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
