Building Maintenance Mechanic

Job Summary

Under limited supervision, responsible for the maintenance, repair, alteration and modification of airport structures and equipment within all airport terminals, buildings, parking lots, and related facilities.

Pay Rate: $37.45 Hourly

Position Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Performs maintenance, repairs, inspections, installations, and diagnoses on mechanical systems such as air handler units, pumps, motors, air compressors, jet bridge systems, baggage conveyor systems, dock lifts, overhead doors, automatic gates, fire sprinkler systems, plumbing systems, and commercial piping systems.


2. Maintains and repairs of airport terminals, buildings, structures, equipment and machinery including welding, carpentry, and locksmith work according to written and verbal instructions.


3. Identifies equipment maintenance issues using testing devices, blueprints, drawings, instruction and operation maintenance manuals.


4. Performs inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure compliance with safety standards and the efficient operation of all equipment. Maintains records on all work performed.


5. Researches availability and cost for replacement parts, completes requisitions, and inventories stock parts and equipment.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Assists other Airport maintenance associates as needed.

2. Performs special projects as assigned.

3. Other job duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION - High School Diploma or GED.


EXPERIENCE - Three (3) years of mechanical maintenance experience. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience in plumbing, commercial piping systems, pumps, motors, welding, and carpentry. Must obtain a Class II AOA license within six (6) months of employment. Must have a valid driver license.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES - Knowledge of air handling units, building, structures, equipment and machinery maintenance, operation and inspection procedures. Knowledge of interpreting specifications, blueprints, schematics, drawings, and sketches. Working knowledge of basic computer applications and maintenance recordkeeping systems, including Microsoft Word.


Skill in diagnosing mechanical and equipment failures using testing devices, technical manuals, and systematic troubleshooting techniques. Skill in performing corrective and preventive maintenance on a wide variety of mechanical, structural, and building systems with minimal supervision. Skill in performing repairs and modifications in accordance with established safety procedures and technical specifications. Good written, verbal, and communication skills.


Ability to independently prioritize tasks and respond to maintenance needs in an airport environment. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and apply technical information to practical work situations. Ability to identify safety hazards and take appropriate corrective action to protect personnel, equipment, and facilities. Ability to work collaboratively with others while also functioning effectively under limited supervision.
