Job Summary: This position is part of the Department of War Information Activity. The incumbent will be responsible for establishing and implementing policies and systems necessary for the effective and economical performance of the Department of War (DoW) public affairs mission, which includes the Office of the Secretary of War (OSW), Defense agencies, the military services, the Joint Staff and the combatant commands.

Major Duties:

  • As a Budget Analyst at the GS-0560-12 some of your typical work assignments may include: Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the American Forces Network/Budget, ensuring that financial activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Performs budget formulation work involving review and preparation of budget estimates and financial plans. Provides advice, assistance, and guidance on budgeting and related information and conducts analyses, reviews and special studies of budget and/or related information. Uses budgetary and other automated system(s) and computer-generated products in accomplishing budgeting/funding assignments. Prepare supporting data or material for funding requests and justification for submission to higher headquarters.

Qualifications: You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service: Performing a variety of budgetary and administrative functions in implementing budgetary programs, policies, and procedures. Reviewing, evaluating, validating, and analyzing actual expenditures as compared to the plan and making projections to indicate needed adjustments in the budget plan. Preparing annual reports and present budgetary briefings with supporting statistical data to senior leadership who use the data to defend budget and manpower requirements and as a basis for making decisions process. Tracking obligations of all fiscal years and ensuring compliance with expenditure plans and statutory limitations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
