Position Overview

BSP seeks to hire an Associate with at least 2 years of relevant experience for the Asset Management group located in New York City. The position will report to the Head of Asset Management and work with a strong, seasoned team of asset management, loan origination, underwriting and securitization professionals. Through on-the-job training, the role will evolve as the candidate learns and is ready to take on additional responsibility.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

        Monitor and analyze the financial performance of the properties and portfolios including balance-sheet bridge loans, CMBS loans and other credit investments

        Provide support in the review of property budgets, business plans & quarterly reforecasts

        Develop a working knowledge of leases, loan documents & other legal agreements

        Help develop financial models including discounted cash flows, IRR analysis, NPV analysis, etc. utilizing Microsoft Excel and Argus

        Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual investor reports and presentations

        Assist in the administration of on-going loan proceeds disbursements to include construction draws, leasing costs, and release of loan reserves

        Responsible for the aggregation, accuracy and reporting of data to be used for reporting and decision making by credit committee.

        Liaise with servicers and borrower to provide optimized client service.

        Interface daily with members of origination, legal, finance, securitization and underwriting teams.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will ideally possess:

        2+ years of full-time experience with a real estate background

        Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, economics, real estate, or related field

        Understanding of real estate fundamentals, commercial office leases, financing principles, and debt capital structures

        Familiarity with loan due diligence to include property appraisals, environmental reports, engineering reports, and insurance reviews

        Loan servicing or construction loan administration experience a plus

        Commercial real estate valuation, underwriting and/or accounting experience a plus

        Outstanding quantitative and analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task effectively

        Highly proficient in Excel

        Effective oral and written communication skills

        Ability to work both independently and as a team member

        Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment

 

Compensation Range

Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton/Benefit Street Partners, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. We expect the base salary for this position to range between $100,000 - $130,000, plus discretionary bonus.
