Broker Partnership Representative

Location: Regina / Saskatoon
Pay Range: $75,691 - $105,073** This classification has a 10% adjustment to the top of the pay band (which is reflected in the Pay Range details above) and is in effect until March 31, 2027
Work Location: This role is eligible for hybrid – this means you’ll have the flexibility of working alternating weeks from home and office.
Travel Requirements: This role requires travel and a valid drivers licence. It is expected that you will be away from home a minimum of 30 nights per year.

The Broker Partnership Representative is responsible for building and maintaining effective business relationships with brokers, working with brokers to promote the company’s products, initiatives, and strategic direction. Identifies opportunities for growth, develops joint business plans and monitors results against established key performance indicators (KPI’s). Works collaboratively with expertise from Corporate Business Development, Product Management, the Regions and Digital and Marketing to deliver opportunities and training to their broker accounts as well as monitoring market conditions, providing feedback and competitive intelligence to assist the company in achieving its corporate objectives. The majority of work is performed away from established headquarters and overnight stays are required.
Develops and maintains effective business relationships with brokers, including understanding broker’s business model, ownership structure, and area of expertise.
Analyzes internal data sources to identify opportunities and develop recommendations for Brokers businesses.
Plans, schedules, and facilitates annual broker business planning sessions, establishes business goals/targets, develops and monitors broker action plans and performance results.
Works collaboratively with Underwriting, Corporate Analytics, Digital and Marketing to identify growth/efficiency opportunities best suited for brokers; develops business cases for consideration.
Responsible to identify and resolve issues between SGI and the brokers, and for escalation to subject matter experts and / or line area management to request accommodation for broker partner / customer and offer recommendations to move situations forward.
Provide senior leadership with advice and support on the management of the broker partnership.
Delivers existing broker programs, ensuring broker contract and industry compliance; manages and addresses feedback resulting from program delivery.
Provide support to sales, transfers, and broker appointments.
Conducts reviews according to corporate business development standards.
Solicits, analyzes, and recommends the addition of new SGI CANADA brokers and if required, recommends the termination of appointed brokers.
Respond to questions and correspondence from brokers, SGI personnel and, if requested by SGI management, from customers regarding the insurance industry and corporate strategies
Promotes strategic alignment towards mutual objectives.
Evaluates monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and book of business performance and provides analysis on growth or loss for Principles and/or decision makers.
Leads on deployment of ELT and department specific driven product change to Broker Partners through various virtual and in person methods.
Monitors purchased books of business, including analysis and reporting of results for three years.
Coordinates and delivers broker training and support on commercial and personal line insurance products, and automated insurance systems, bringing SGI CANADA expertise for delivery.
Coordinates and attends broker training academies, seminars, and councils to monitor and present.
Supports and delivers the communication, change management and rollout of national and regional initiatives developed for brokers.
Promote, educate, and provide advice on SGI products, programs, services, and business practices.
Review Broker bulletins and product change proposals regularly to detect clarity when required, using industry intel and product knowledge to recommend changes.
Evaluates, leads, and facilitates discussions on disputed claims; develops decision items when required. Actively leads escalation for Broker Partners regarding day-to-day transacting, claims issues, FPO issues, Auto Fund issues.
Develops relationships with industry members to monitor trends and activities in the market.
Represents SGI CANADA at industry events.
Solicits, collects, and reports product feedback on the competitiveness of the company’s product, programs, and commission/override structures.
Actively monitors the marketplace for any relevant competitive intelligence.

Advanced knowledge of SGI products, programs, services, and business practices, including but not limited to insurance products, billing processes, broker and consumer eServices, common industry technology solutions, broker remuneration and recognition programs, broker financing, common rating, communication, and operational best practices for insurance operations.
Advanced level skill to develop and promote recommendations in a variety of situations.
Proficient skill in written communications, including developing presentations.
Proficient level skill in the use of Microsoft Office products, spreadsheet applications, and internet/communications software and applications (e.g. Skype, Webex, Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
Proficient knowledge of the provincial licensing requirements for brokers as well as a working knowledge of the Agency/Broker Company Agreements.
Proficient knowledge of the techniques used in business and financial analysis.
Fundamental knowledge of insurance theory and principles, practices, methods and techniques related to the insurance industry.
Four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study, such as Business, or defined equivalency.
Possession of a valid driver’s licence.
5 - 7 years' experience in a senior technical insurance or an account management type position.
Physical Effort and Environment: Moderate physical effort which may include [setting up trade show displays, lifting medium weight objects, extra time standing while at show. Frequent long-distance highway driving.
Sensory Attention: Moderate periods of concentration on a variety of sensory inputs requiring close attention several times daily.
Mental Stress: Moderate exposure to one or more mental pressures. Overnight travel is required and may spend up to 30 nights away annually.
