We believe that great deals begin with great talent and teams. Our Talent and Organizational Performance team serves as the conduit between Blackstone deal team professionals and our portfolio company executive teams advising on the most critical people and organizational issues.

Role Overview:

Based in London, the Talent and Organizational Performance Professional will play an instrumental role in driving growth across the portfolio. They will work closely with Blackstone’s private equity portfolio companies advising them on all aspects of talent management including talent diligence, recruiting, compensation, succession planning, retention, team building, and performance management. This includes providing expertise around network cultivation and successful recruitment of C-level and Board portfolio company talent including talent mapping, sourcing, search firm selection, candidate assessment, selection and onboarding as well as ongoing performance monitoring. 

 

Organizational Design & Value Creation Planning

  • Manage key executive and Board-level talent related activities associated with the full-investment cycle from pre-deal diligence through exit. 
  • Partner closely with Blackstone investment teams and Portfolio Operations Asset Manager(s) to translate the investment thesis into talent requirements and advise on organizational assessment, design and other operating model elements, including facilitating the engagement of external subject matter experts and consultants as necessary.
  • Engage subject matter experts (e.g., Human Resources, Compensation) as appropriate.

Portfolio Company Engagement 

  • Serve as a thought partner and trusted advisor to Blackstone’s Portfolio Company Executive Teams through a regular cadence of engagement (virtual or in-person) to support excellence in performance and enrich the Blackstone experience and drive collaboration. 
  • Collect and report key insights gathered from Portfolio Company Executive Community activities including regular engagement surveys. 

Search & Networking

  • Search Firm Relationship Management: Expand upon our comprehensive understanding of search firms (exec and non-exec) and make recommendations/introductions to portfolio companies aligned with emerging CXO needs. Track search firm performance to monitor quality and ensure excellence.
  • Search Oversight: Partner closely with portfolio companies on critical search processes, and help them interview, reference, and close candidates, facilitating the deployment of assessment tools where appropriate. 
  • Proactive Networking: Develop and maintain an evergreen diverse talent network of exceptional leaders (exec and non-exec) to support current and future investing activities. 
  • Understand cultural and regional nuances to relationship building and partnerships that accelerate value creation.  

Capture & Scale

  • Monitor and manage quarterly reporting on current and expected Blackstone portfolio company talent needs.
  • Continue to build upon our talent network and processes for firmwide knowledge management of candidates. Refer appropriate candidates to portfolio companies.
  • Leverage compensation surveys and other resources to inform ongoing decisions regarding executive level offers
  • Respond to various data requests as needed to build and share internal insights with various stakeholders

Advisory

  • Provide regular advice and timely market intelligence to portfolio companies on people/talent issues, including recruiting, interviewing, candidate experience, compensation, benefits, and CXO onboarding processes.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Deep leadership assessment and recruiting and talent advisory experience. Ideally, they will be a senior leader with a minimum of 15 years of experience at one or a combination of global executive search, assessment, talent advisory/management consulting firms, corporations, or private equity firms. 
  • Solid understanding of the private equity industry and its ecosystem and experience across a range of companies from high growth to scaled enterprises.
  • Exceptional communication (oral, written), interpersonal and influencing skills at all levels.  This professional shall be known as a trusted/strategic advisor with an ability and appetite to add perspective and leadership beyond functional responsibility.
  • Sustained track record of developing innovative and forward-looking talent strategies and initiatives. 
  • Proactive self-starter with strong sense of urgency, ownership, work ethic and drive toward action/output.
  • Strong program/project management orientation to develop streamlined talent acquisition and recruiting programs and processes. 
  • Highest ethical standards, integrity, authenticity, credibility, and character.
  • Positive, can-do and professional attitude with ability to work well under pressure and thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree is a plus.
