The Biostatistics Intern supports the Biostatistics team by contributing to strategic initiatives, operational projects, and day-to-day business activities. This role is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience in a professional pharmaceutical environment, offering exposure to cross-functional collaboration, business processes, and industry best practices. 

They will join the team to support with research and development effort focused on statistical monitoring module development. This work will directly support Acadia’s future clinical trials and enhance our risk based quality management (RBQM) capabilities.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Develop CSM modules using reference Phase 3 efficacy and safety data; Build features to detect systemic data quality issues and identify emerging risk signals suitable for small-sample-size clinical studies; Incorporate visualization components to make insights accessible and actionable for study teams; Prepare modules for potential implementation in ongoing or near term clinical studies, strengthening Acadia’s RBQM framework. 
  • Document CSM module algorithms, workflows and usage guidance for CSM users in biometrics, clinical development, clinical operation and other functions. 
  • Participates in team meetings, planning sessions, and strategic discussions to gain exposure to clinical development and contribute insights where appropriate. 
  • Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and alignment with company values in all interactions. 
  • Completes a final presentation summarizing internship contributions and key learnings. 

Education/Experience/Skills: 

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Biostatistics, Data Science, or related field. 
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred. 
  • Experience with R, Python or SAS. 
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and interest in modeling and statistical methodologies. 
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team setting. 
  • Prior internship, leadership experience, campus involvement, or project-based work preferred. 
  • Interest in the pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry strongly preferred. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and professionally. 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. 
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) 
  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment. 

Physical Requirements: 

This role involves regular standing, walking, sitting, and the use of hands for handling or operating equipment. The employee may also need to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and maintain visual, verbal, and auditory communication both in a standard office environment and while working independently from remote locations. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.  This position requires the ability to travel independently overnight and/or work after hours as required by travel schedule or business needs.

In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is also eligible for discretionary bonus and equity awards based on factors such as individual and organizational performance. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance, and location. 

Salary Range
$22$22 USD
