The Position

As a Biospecimen Associate II, you will be joining our Biospecimen Acquisition and Management (BAM) team. In this role, you will play a vital part in facilitating daily BAM operations, ensuring our research and development efforts are supported by high-quality sample management. You will work under moderate supervision to ensure all biological materials are handled in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

The Opportunity

You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of biological materials. This includes everything from initial receipt and inventory management to processing, distribution, and long-term storage.

Also, in this role, you are:

  • Executing basic tasks associated with acquisition, data, and/or biorepository activities to fulfill customer specimen requests.
  • Working under moderate supervision to receive shipments, performing sample verification, and storing, retrieving, and distributing samples.
  • Performing physical laboratory tasks such as repetitive small-task work like labeling samples.
  • Utilizing a validated laboratory information management system (LIMS) to interface with specimen data, extracting and transforming data from diverse and sometimes incomplete datasets into various formats.
  • Identifying and resolving data discrepancies to maintain the integrity of the biorepository while applying fundamentals of oncology terminology to ensure data accuracy.
  • Following local procedures, laboratory safety policies, and good documentation practices.
  • Organizing specimen inventory as directed and ensuring accurate and consistent labeling of samples and specimens.

Who You Are

  • You bring a minimum of a combination of High School Diploma (or GED) with 5 years of relevant work experience and/or certifications (e.g., EMT, phlebotomy)
  • If you have an Associate’s Degree in a biological discipline or related field, 2 years of relevant experience are required
  • Preferred experience includes handling biological specimens, working with potentially infectious materials and biobanking

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 30 lbs, work in cold environments with limited daylight, stand for long periods, and climb ladders
  • Skilled in MS Excel and Google Suite.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to work under moderate supervision.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining quality and accuracy in all deliverables.

The expected salary range for this position, based on the primary location of Tucson, is 46,200.00 - 85,800.00 USD Annual.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
