Job Description:

Location: Hybrid

As a member of the retirement annuities team, the incumbent will be responsible for the administration related to defined benefit (DB) pension plans for Group Retirement Services, as well as managing ongoing services to plan sponsors and member requests requiring complex calculations.

What you will do?

• Act as a subject matter expert on the administration of defined benefit plans

• Provide support to the retirement pension team on plan rules and other complex issues

• Participate in various quality control and audit processes

• Support knowledge management tasks and perform tasks related to processing deferred pensions, deaths, marriage breakdowns, plan terminations, plan transfers, annual statements, and other related tasks

• Complete complex calculations and adjustments concerning transactions made for our members or sponsors

• Conduct research and analysis to determine the sources of reconciliation errors (and other issues) and then take action to resolve them

• Document plan rules and other information necessary for the proper daily administration of the plan

• Complete any other tasks required to support the team and meet the needs of clients and sponsors within the required timeframes

 What do you need to succeed?

  • University degree in actuarial science or related field of study

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Defined Benefits or Group Retirement Services

  • Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada and worldwide.

  • Expertise in working with large volume of data in Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Analytical and problem solving skills

  • Organizational skills and ability to prioritize in order to achieve tight delivery dates

  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimum supervision

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
