General Summary:

Benefits & Payroll Assistant is responsible for the accuracy and transmittal of payroll documents for WTAMU Faculty/Staff.

This includes regular, supplemental, work study, and student payrolls. Other responsibilities include accounting related duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Data entry – hire or make changes to students/ camp workers into Workday.
  • Assists departments with proper completion of payroll EVAF’s.
  • Learn Benefits & Payroll basics to assist with employee questions.
  • Run benefit report to find errors and report to Benefits & Payroll Specialist.
  • Meet with Perspective faculty to explain our benefits and perks.
  • Follow up on documentation needed for employee benefits and Email GA/PTI’s when eligible to offer benefits.
  • Assist new employees on boarding for benefits.
  • Input terminated employees into the Property Clearance form Smartsheet.
  • Completes employment verifications and request state services records for current and past employees.
  • Provides Notary support when needed, will be required to become a Notary.
  • Maintain 100% compliance with timely completion of required System, University, and job-specific on-line training courses.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One (1) year of related office experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong clerical and customer service skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Five (5) years of Payroll experience.
