Behavioral Scientist

We’re looking for a Behavioral Scientist to help shape the future of tobacco regulation. In this role, you’ll leverage behavioral and social science expertise to understand how people think, feel, and act when it comes to tobacco products. Your work will include designing and conducting research, analyzing consumer perceptions, interpreting public health data, and turning insights into impactful regulatory strategies that make a real difference. 

Job Location: Fully remote with periodic on‑site presence at clinical locations and events.

What You Will Do:  

  • Design and conduct studies that explore consumer perceptions, decision-making, and responses to tobacco products and health messaging. 

  • Interpret behavioral data and public health trends to uncover actionable patterns and inform communications and engagement efforts. 

  • Translate research findings into strategies and recommendations that shape regulatory decisions and related communications and storytelling. 

  • Work with scientists, policy experts, and communicators to integrate behavioral science into impactful communications and outreach efforts. . 

  • Prepare reports, presentations, and briefs that make complex data clear and compelling, using behavioral best practices related to storytelling. 

 

What You Will Bring With You:  

  • Bachelor's degree in behavioral or social sciences (e.g., psychology, sociology, anthropology) or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Experience contributing to or developing communications strategies and plans using behavioral science principles 

  • At least 7 years of hands-on experience with research design, data analysis, and applying behavioral science to real-world challenges. 

 

 

What We Would Like You To Bring With You:  

  • Demonstrated experience designing and reviewing studies, including consumer perception research, for regulatory or public health applications. 

 

Professional Skills: 

  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills; competency in presenting data in accessible formats. 

  • Demonstrated experience in fast-paced dynamic environment with the ability to be a hands-on, trusted problem solver and leader.   

  • Demonstrated experience providing senior-level counsel to government officials and executives.  

  • Superior verbal, written, organizational, and time management skills, as well as attention to detail. 

  • Ability to think creatively and provide unique solutions and rationale for solutions to clients’ communications challenges/problems.  

  • Ability to quickly understand problems, synthesize large amounts of information, and provide succinct recommendations that tie back to overall account communication strategies and tactics.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$67,063.00 - $137,949.00
