GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

The Graduate Assistant for Football will support the Head Football Coach in building, recruiting, and maintaining a competitive football program on the Raymond Campus. This role aligns with the goals of Hinds Community College and adheres to the policies and procedures outlined in the Athletic Department Handbook. 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s required 

Experience: 1-2 years of competitive college coaching experience.   

Certificate/License: Familiar with MACCC and NJCAA governing rules 

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor’s degree required. Admission into master’s degree program. Experience as former student-athlete and/or interest in college athletics. 1-2 years of coaching experience preferred. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, include the following.  

Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices. 

  • Recruits, trains, and provides guidance to members of the basketball team in a manner which promotes the academic, athletic and social success of athletes and is consistent with the mission and goals of the Hinds Community College Athletic Department. 

  • Represent Hinds Community College and the Athletic Department in a positive manner with a high degree of integrity and quality. 

  • Adheres to and enforces all policies and procedures of the department and the college, as well as the rules and regulations of the NJCAA and MACCC. 

  • Assist with specific aspects of the basketball program; provides opportunities that challenge and support student-athletes to reach their full potential. 

  • Assist with the organization and administration of the basketball program, including the following: recruit planning, practice and game planning, film coordination, meal planning, travel planning. 

  • Assist the head coach and assistant coaches with recruiting plans and recruiting of potential student-athletes. 

  • Assist the head coach and assistant coaches in the scouting of opponents and in preparation of game and practice plans. 

  • Assist in monitoring academic activities for each of the programs. This includes grade checks, study hall monitoring, and helping advisors. 

  • Perform other appropriate duties as assigned that relate to the success of the program.
